In a statement accompanying his order, Obama says the sanctions are warranted because of the “deceptive practices” of the Central Bank and the “unacceptable risk” posed to the international financial system by Iran’s activities.

The order comes amid new tensions in the Middle East and around the world over the potential of a unilateral strike by Israel on Iran’s nuclear program.

Obama says it is still possible to resolve the standoff over Iran’s nuclear program through diplomatic efforts. His administration has sought to use sanctions as one way to pressure Iran to halt its nuclear program.

Obama is living in a fantasy world that any sanctions of any kind can ever work against any country EVER!

US initiated Sanctions have in the past NEVER been successful to EVER persuade any country to bend to the will of the US.

US sanctions never worked against North Korea to stop their nuclear program and the US keeps on living in dreamland that it could work and in the end got absolutely no compliance at all whatsoever.

For years and years the US tried sanction against Saddam and after spending billions and months and years it never worked.

Obama needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
