Jerusalem – A riot broke out on an Egged bus on Wednesday evening after a young secular man refused to allow a Belz Hasid to sit next to him.

The 55-year-old Hasid boarded a Route 480 Egged bus traveling from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv. He noticed that the only available seat was next to the secular man, but when he tried to sit down the man called out to him, “A stink like you will not sit next to me”.
A riot broke out until another passenger stood up and gave the Hasid his seat.
“A riot broke out until another passenger stood up and gave the Hasid his seat”. This statement makes no sense. So after giving the hasid his seat, this ‘riot’ suddenly ceased. It doesn’t sound like much of a riot.
that’s called a riot? where do you live, candy land?
This is every bit as unacceptable as a Chassid refusing to sit next to a woman. Shame on the secular man!
Was the guy emitting a terrible stench? Is there more to this story? If this story is as it is represented, this menacing chair hog should be prosecuted. Let’s wait for the facts.
Turn about is fair play.
wow! i wonder on the comments coming up now, will someone call this guy a secular sikrik? will he be arrested? will he get the same treatment like the charidim got? just wondering! what a shame!!!
Media incitement having its intended effects.
Whats good for the goose is good for the gander. Reap what you sow. Shkoiach!
Now you know how a woman feels when the only available sit is next to a chasid.
Are they gonna arrest the “secular” man now??
Based on the quote it wasn’t because the man was a chosid, but because he smelled bad.
Dont think the media will care too much about this. This discrimination is ok for some reason. When it happens to a secular or a woman that’s when it horrifying. Shame on all the comments left praising this haters of drum people.
#9 a very moronic statement. So every charedi (almost a million people) deserves the same treatment that a handful of charedim have attempted.
I find this all very sad.
weird story
did he yell at him in English? Was this quote an exact or good translation?
I ask since “A stink like you will not sit next to me”. would mean he is referring to him being a chussid not that he stinks. Unless something was lost in the translation
if he truly stank so bad I am not sure others would have given him the seat
also a riot stops just because a person gave up their seat, sounds strange
something is missing in this story
does odor have to do with religion ? i think its genetic,
Belz doesn’t participate in protest against segrated buses or shabos or any type of protest, so by saying that this guy should feel what the wamen feel is irrelivent
The local media here likes to make trouble – on both sides. Take this with a grain of salt.
“Masriach” literaly meaning “stink” is a standard insult in modern Hebrew & there is no reason to assume it was said to describe an actual physical oder.
I completely understand the “secular” man.
I personally will never stop & give a ‘tremp’ to a hareidim hitchhiker.
It’s bad enough that my friends, family & I have to fight in Tzahal for you & support you with our tax money, that we work hard to earn.
you reap what you have sown!
This is the saddest thing about the whole extremist situation. Belzer chassidim are the most amazing, warm, loving people and have nothing to do with the extremists (and are quite appalled at their behavior). Unfortunately, to the untrained secular eye, they look the same. So thanks to these crazies, innocent chassidim suffer.
#33 , actually it means “something that stinks” either literally or figuratively. However, this word is evry rarely used (at one time these were called $10 words but that was a long time ago). “Stinker” (pronounced “shtinker”) is a stool pigeon.
Did not see this story reported in any of the leftist israeli news outlets.
O’h it would make them look bad.
Will he be arrested ? I think we can safely answer – No.
What is good for the goose then, is not so good for the gander.
Typical zionistic hypocrisy.
