Pentagon press secretary George Little says Panetta asked the Marine Corps Friday to look into it “and to take appropriate action.”
Little, speaking in Washington, says racist and anti-Semitic symbols have absolutely no place alongside U.S. service members.
The Marine Corps has said it does not plan to discipline the troops, who posed with a flag emblazoned with an “SS” symbol in 2010, because it concluded there was no malicious intent.
A leading Jewish organization has demanded President Barack Obama order an investigation and hold the troops accountable.
This is a good first step to get to the bottom of this disgusting display.
Other news reports show that this sort of display has happened in the past, and the Marine Corps has shut it down with extreme disapproval.
Forget about the Jewish angle.
I think it’s highly offensive to all the servicemen & woman who fought the nazis in WWII.
