New York – A bill in New York would apply the three-strike rule to drunken drivers by permanently ending their driving privileges.

The bill would terminate licenses forever for a driver who is convicted three times for driving while intoxicated or driving while under the influence or if the driver is at fault in three accidents where there are injuries.

Republican Assemblyman James Tedisco (ted-IS-ko) and Senator Hugh Farley say the bill aims to stop what they call serial drunken driving.

Currently, state law doesn’t permanently terminate driving privileges even after chronic drunken driving.

The New York legislators from the Schenectady area plan to announce their bill on Friday.

How about enforcing the law and arresting drivers that driver drunk before they kill people the first two times? h, that makes too much sense.

Just last week a person from called 911 stating a person hit a car and is weaving in and out traffic and just missing oncoming traffic. The person was followed for 45 minutes all around Flatbush and the police never showed up. the system is a disgrace and we don’t need more laws. What we need is enforcement and police that respond to DUI calls within two minutes.

First timers, or repeat drunk drivers, they will still drive with or without license. How does this idea be effective? There are so many DUI drivers.. one person doesn’t make much difference.
