Long Beach, CA – A motorist that was killed after his car plunged off a freeway off-ramp and burst into flames Monday has been positively identified today as an Israeli citizen from the city of Yavneh.

Long Beach Fire Department was the first on scene at the Artesia (91) Freeway at Cherry Avenue shortly before 2:30 p.m. and arrived to find the car of 23 year old Eliezer Levy, fully engulfed in flames and pinned to a generator with two propane tanks, said Firefighter Matthew Dobberpuhl.
According to the Daily Breeze The flames were so intense that firefighters couldn’t immediately get to the tanks and the generator and had to use the engine’s water cannon to bring the flames down to a manageable level, the firefighter said.
Witnesses to the crash said the driver was traveling west on the 91 in the No. 4 lane when he inexplicably veered off the freeway, rolling the car before it caught fire.
The Israeli foreign Ministry, Chesed Shel Emes and Zaka were making arrangements to bring the body back to Israel. it took a few days to identify the badly burned body.
