Buchanan, NY - The Indian Point nuclear power plant is conducting security drills at various times during the day and night this week.

According to the Journal News (http://lohud.us/H8wa5x ), residents may hear what sounds like gunshots during the Monday through Friday drills.

The company that owns and operates the plant says the drills are part of exercises intended to test the plant’s ability to respond to an attack.

Entergy says local law enforcement agencies have been notified.

Indian Point is located in Buchanan north of New York City.
