Pollard had been suffering for days but prison officials would only agree to allow him to go to the hospital after congressmen intervened.

Ashkenazi chief rabbi Yonah Metzger called upon Jews around the world to pray during the Passover holiday for the health and freedom of Pollard, whose Hebrew name is Yehonatan Ben-Malka.

Bush couldn’t have pardoned Pollard or commuted his sentence on his last day in office? What did he stand to lose?

I don’t know who is sicker the patient or his guardians. Not really I do know. The patient/prisoner has a machlah in his body. The guardians have a machlah in their hearts and brains.

The federal Bureau of Prisons tried the same tactics with Pollard’s first wife, Ann, when she was in prison, and suffering from a serious digestive disorder. They thought that by denying her medical care, they would put the squeeze on Pollard in order to extract more information.

    This is not normal.

Anyone who davens — please think of Yehonatan ben Malka at “matir asurim,” and for refuah shalaimah … and please put some koach into “v’l’malshinim al tehi tikvah.”

The same, please, for Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, whose mother’s name I don’t know offhand. Thank you.
