Thomas Bleming, a resident of Lusk, filed papers with the state declaring he will challenge incumbent Sen. John Barrasso. R-Wyo., for his seat.

Bleming, 66, hoisted an M1 carbine at a saloon south of Cheyenne as he made his announcement. He said he believes that Barrasso has proven himself a traitor by voting in favor of the Patriot Act, which gives the government authority to search records and conduct roving wiretaps in pursuit of terrorists.

“If I was John Barrasso, I would just resign,” Bleming said to a sparse crowd of reporters and a handful of supporters. “I wouldn’t even attempt to run.”

Dan Kunsman, Barrasso’s chief of staff, said he had no response to Bleming’s statements. Kunsman said the senator will make an announcement about plans for a positive campaign later this month.

Tammy Hooper, chairman of the Wyoming Republican Party, said she didn’t know anything about Bleming other than that he had contacted the party in recent weeks to say he would run. She said the party doesn’t take sides or endorse candidates in contested primaries.

In an interview Friday, Bleming acknowledged that he wrote a Facebook post saying that Hitler and Goebbels were right about the destructiveness of Jews.

However, he said he doesn’t regard himself as a Nazi.

“I wouldn’t say so,” he said. “I’m an American.”

Bleming displayed an array of military commendations on tables in front of him. He said he’s disabled from military service that included combat in Vietnam

He is right about one thing: voting for the so-called “patriot act” does make someone a traitor to this nation. On that we agree. America has survived far worse threats (including the Civil War) without having to tear down the freedoms and liberties afforded by the Constitution.

Today, you can be searched, have your phone lines tapped, have your internet traffic sniffed, and even have your most private conversations with your wife listened to without so much as a phone call to a judge to issue a warrant. For those of you who are foolish enough to think it only applies to “terrorists”, it doesn’t. The law only requires that there be a “security concern” and does not define what those are.

No Freedom-loving American Conservative (capital C) would ever support such a thing.

The scary thing about this is – if enough people vote for him, he wins.
And if more people like him win, you suddenly have a democratically elected congress advocating a holocaust. Stranger things have happened!

    Why is he even newsworthy??

We ALL know that he doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in h*** of winning anything….

Another Tea Party clown challenging the old Republicon guard. This gets more exciting by the minute. Can’t wait till the food-stamp “conservatives” find a way to defend him, and tell us that the white supremacist Hitler-admirer is “really a liberal”.

So every fringe nutcase without a following deserves a story? One feeds people like this by giving them publicity.

Unfortunately, there are undoubtedly millions of people around the world, who agree with this person’s attitudes, vis-a-vis Yidden. Kahane was right!
