The Israeli leader has appeared before a parliamentary committee that is trying to craft a compromise law palatable to both secular and religious political parties.

Secular Jews have said the current arrangement places an unfair burden on them. The ultra-Orthodox, who skip army service to engage in full-time religious study, say they are serving the state by serving God.

Netanyahu told the panel’s first meeting on Monday that a more equitable sharing of the country’s defense burden must be implemented gradually, and without pitting any one sector against the other.

Why can’t people face up to the real truth

Frum yidden are happy to help save lives of other yidden much more so even than secularists care for one another

The real issue is that the secular army has deliberately created and extremely hostile environment to not enable a frum Jew to practice his religion freely if he joins the army

If they really wanted frum Jews in the army they ca easily get everyone to happily join if only every frum Yid could be 100% certain that the army will not deliberately and constantly seek all kinds of the most silly and outrages ways to undermine and deliberately be hostile to undermine frum Yidden for no reason at all

A Perfect example is the utmost biggest shtus in the world in the Israeli Army to force frum Yidden that they must listen to female singers in the army or risk punishment

Listening to female singers in the army, serves no purpose of Israel’s security. Why does the army make such a big stink about this shtus, then complain why they don’t get more frum yidden?

If the secularists would have the minimal mentchlechkiet that even an American Goy has, they could get countless thousands more but they really don’t want frum Yidden in the Army!

What is the difference between compulsory military service and involuntary servitude? Also, why are females subjected to conscription? Women have never been subjected to a draft in other countries.
