i love it how her hats always match her outfits. you think she wears them once and then gives them away? maybe we can get a Queens hat gemach or a Queens hat and dress thrift shop and sell them second hand.

The Queen has visited over 125 countries during her 60 years on the throne but never Israel. I don’t think she likes us. (:-(

Queen Elizabeth II and her family are the biggest welfare recipients in history. England’s monarchy has been powerless for over a century and they’re nothing but glorified figureheads now. They produce nothing and have no impact on English politics. Why anyone still cares about the “royal family” puzzles me.

You can say what you want about the Royals, but there is one great contribution they made to the yeshivasah velt. Although the frock coat came out of the Napoleonic period, it was Prince Albert (the current queen’s great-great grandfather) that made them popular. While we might pretend the kapata is Jewish clothing we should give credit where credit is due.

Don’t think she’s anti-yidden but her love for us isn’t very overt, at best. Having said that, she’s on quite a few occasions honored, with an official title some frum people, like Rabbi Sufrin from Ilford, London and others.

So refreshing to see the display of tznius. Rare to see women dressed with dignity, especially American celebs.

Perhaps it’s time for her to step aside and allow her nearly 65 year old son to start his job as King.

If this goyische queen can go to Ireland and apologize for Britain’s crimes against that country, she certainly ought to be able to make it to Israel and apologize for the crimes of the British in trying to stop refugees from reaching EY in the 1930s-1940s.

    Reply to #24 mistahkurtz:
you absolutely DO NOT want for one second that prince charles the nearly 65yr old son to take over the monarchy. He is very cold and rough. He is the sonei yisroel everyone thinks the queen is. On the contrary the queen is a true oheiv yisroel. She has hosted countless prominent famous Jewish figures whether for receptions or to honor them awards etc etc. Her son Charles is hated by Jew and non Jew alike. Remember his first wife Diana, he had her killed.
the british nation want Williams to take over.

    do your homework first.

There are dozens of countries the Queen has not visited. She has not visited Albania – that does not make her anti-Albanian. She has not visited Ukraine – is she anti-Ukrainian? Is she anti-Argentina (she could have visited long prior to the Falklands war). Anti Peruvian? Please stop this self-importance – there is no reason for her to visit Israel. Many of these countries have economies and populations larger than Israel. Israel was never part of the commonwealth, and the UK does not have huge vested interests, or private investments, in the country. The only connection they have was that they had the mandate. She does not visit countries willy-nilly on the basis of their mere existence. The commonwealth countries alone account for the majority of her travel. Man – we are a tough peoples!

I still remember her silver jubilee in 1977 – a little boy then standing out there along the parade route waiting hours just to catch a glimpse of her. Just to think how many blatt I could have learnt in that time.

To all those ‘mumchim’ who have come up with reasons for the Queen not visiting Israel:

It is not the Queen herself who decides which country will be visited officially, but rather the British Government. If the government of the day decides that it is in the British national interests for one member of the Royal Family or another to go to Israel then arrangements will be made, in very close consultation with the host nation.

When Shimon Peres had an audience of the Queen a year or so ago he extended a personal invitation. Please note that the operative word in the last sentence is “personal”.

It is perhaps worth noting that Prince Philip, the Queen’s husband, *has* visited Israel. His mother, Princess Andrew, is buried in the Russian Orthodox church on Har Hazeitim. Prince Philip combined a visit to her grave with a ceremony at Yad VaShem, where he received a Righteous Gentile award on his late mother’s behalf.

To all the party poopers who whine about the Royals’ uselessness, know that Queen Elizabeth has held court with no less than 12 prime ministers to date and has and continues to meet with them weekly for a serious tete-a-tete.
The queen has served as a model for sovereignty, ever since she was crowned at the tender age of 25, with grace and class as befits her royal station. There is even a special bracha we make upon seeing a monarch!
The reign of British Royalty is regarded by many as a fairy-tale fantasy in real time. Better to emulate the gracious and respectable Queen of England than the empty-headed, boorish sports figures, politicians and actors that are so fawned over by the masses.
