Sgt. Henry Conde, 34, was accused of obstructing justice and lying to FBI agents in a four-count indictment.
He was arrested, pleaded not guilty and was released on $250,000 bail.
A corrupt cop, Detective Luis Batista of Brooklyn's 90th Precinct asked the sergeant to see if a drug dealer had ratted him out.
Conde searched the IAB computer for information and told the Batista he was being investigated for associating with a crack pusher.
The feds became suspicious that the cop had been alerted to the internal probe and investigators scoured the IAB computer file for unauthorized trolling in the confidential logs.
Conde left a computer trail and then told the FBI he had blabbed about the confidential probe.
Conde, of Franklin Square, L.I., is a 13-year veteran of the force has been suspended. His lawyer did not return a call for comment. But Conde said, "I'm sure that I will be vindicated for all charges," "I've been instructed by my attorney not to talk, but I'm out here. I've got nothing to hide." [Daily News]
U/D:
Batista, a former narcotics officer, has been under federal investigation since April 2006. He was stripped of his gun and badge several months ago. He has not been charged with a crime.
Henry Conde;s career should not be stripped from him!! Anyone who knows him will tell you to look at all the positive things he has done thoughout his career. Henry is a great person and I consider him unfortunate to be in this mess. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I have known Henry Conde for over 13 years and he has always been a stand up guy and good family man. If he states that he didn’t do anything wrong, than I believe him. The truth will be told and the innocent will be set free.
