Hatzluch raba Yossi from a Democrat, It goes to show for everyone that you don’t need to come from (so called) connected family to climb up the ladder in life, it takes dedication and hard work. Once again we are proud of you Yossi

I wonder how Mr. Gestetner will deal with the following Tea Party/right wing Republican positions:
    A. Expulsion of all illegal immigrants (not just Hispanics).
    B. Elimination of foreign aid (including Israel)
    C. Reductions in block grants to states to bring down taxes at the federal level
(including the elimination/reduction of monies used for Section 8 programs)
    D. Elimination of foreign language options for taking driving tests/voting, etc.

What doesn’t seem to be obvious to many is that most Tea Party proponents don’t really like anyone who doesn’t share their ideals or ethnic background. Gestetner has been appointed in a blatant move to bring blocks of Orthodox Jewish voters into the Republican camp. Just wait until the blacks and Hispanics are put in their places! We’re next!

Not sure I’m happy about this since he didn’t do a good job with the press in New Square with the Rothenberg case.

I’ve read a few of his articles and I have to give it to him. They’re articulate, eloquent and shockingly on a very high level. He really makes a kiddush hashem; I just hope he has a rav or rebbe he follows for guidance along the way. Keeping up with jewish issues and ideals needs approval of gedolei hador often.

It will take all his political skills to “spin” many of the Republican positions to be consistent with the values of the frum kehillah on lots of issues related to social policy. Abortion and gay marriage are but a small percentage of the issues of concern to yidden in New York.

    Please read my comments carefully:
Regarding illegal immigrants, wait until the Department of Homeland Security stakes out certain Jewish buildings in order to catch the hundreds of Chassidim who have long ago blown through the validity of their tourist visas and have been flying under the radar for years. That might be acceptable regarding Hispanics to many, but wait until it hits home!

Regarding aid to Israel, read Ron Paul’s policy statements. He is nof just for America first. He is a blatant isolationist. Do you want Israel to stand alone because the Tea Party promised a reduction in taxes to the people who can afford to pay?

Regarding the reduction in the block grants, do we need to get graphic about people in certain Jewish enclaves who’ve been gaming the Section 8 system for years?

The Republicans feel that they can exploit frum discomfort with Democratic initiaves on same sex marriage and lack of support of educational vouchers. We are being used – plain and simple. I did not accuse every Tea Party member of being anti-Jewish. However, there are sufficient hangers-on in their movement to worry me.

To #19 -Samson 660- You wrote that “Israel does not need foreign aid from the U.S., as it only amounts to 2% of EY’s budget”. You further stated that Israeli politicians would like to end that aid. Really?? If that was the case, why do they accept it to begin with? I remember Shimon Peres stating in 1984 (nearly 30 years ago), that “the time will come when we won’t need a penny from the United States”. After 64 years, shouldn’t EY be self sufficient?

Everybody is assuming that he’s a stalwart conservative and represents Chasidim. However, Chasidic leaders and their followers may have conservative social values but that’s where it starts and ends. I guarantee Chasisic leaders and their followers will vote with their pocketbook to expand social programs, they don’t give a hoot about America’s social values!! The GOP is being duped!

By the way the $3 billion that Israel gets from the US a year is 5% of the budget
