The Department of Buildings slapped Robert Scarano with the stop-work order after construction workers were accused of almost creating a nightmare on the subway line while digging a massive hole for a nine-unit project called "The Modern" in Williamsburg.
The order, was for shoddy excavation work after inspectors found no evidence the drilling affected the subway walls.
The site, at 205 N. Seventh St., is directly above the subway line and about 50 yards from an entrance to the Bedford Avenue station.
Scarano, who has 350 projects citywide, is best known for designing projects that are much larger than neighboring buildings – especially in Brooklyn. [nypost]
