Jerusalem - Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Monday told the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that he believes the burden of national and military service must be carried equally by all Israeli citizens, including the ultra-Orthodox and Arabs.

“I am committed to distributing the burden in a more equal way,” Netanyahu said in the closed-door session. “I believe that equality in the (service) burden must include all Israeli citizens - the haredim and the Arabs.”

The prime minister also spoke to the committee members about late prime minister Yitzhak Shamir, whose coffin was lying in the Knesset building ahead of his funeral at Mount Herzl later Monday evening.

“Shamir was and will be an example of public service,” he said. The former prime minister “dedicated his life to the Zionist idea, to the people of Israel and to the Land of Israel.”

You blazing chochom, you compare the Israeli situation to the USA, what planet are you from. Israeli, a tiny country, the size of New Jersey, immediately surrounded by four arab countries as well as Gaza and the PA areas, who would devour Israel literally within the blink of an eye.

It's beyond time for the charedim to accept their share of responsibility in defending the Nation. If they don't feel that's fair, they can either leave the country or go to jail, but it's not fair to burden a certain percentage of society with the entire countries defense.

Sitting and learning (if they really do that) is first and foremost until it comes to saving jewish lives.

Defending the country from savages who would equally kill charedim and chilonim becomes the PRIORITY.

You have zero knowledge on this issue what so ever! Most armies are drafts, and the USA also was drafting its citizens into the forces at the time of need, ask anyone that was around at the Vietnam war

Then you've never heard of the Draft. Many countries have compulsory national service.

You never heard of a draft? You never received a draft card when you turned 18? You never heard of other countries forcing people to go to the army through mandatory army service? All that means is that you don't hear about much.

They did have a draft in the U.S. I know that many frum Jewish men (including my father in law) were soldiers during WW II and my husband and his age group all had their draft lottery numbers in the early seventies (and they were in Yeshiva). When my son turned 18 in the late 1990's he had to register for the draft and you probably did too. We are very lucky that at present the U.S. does not need a draft system and can rely on a volunteer military. If we cannot live in Eretz Yisrael, we are actually very lucky to be able to live in a country like ours that guarantees religious freedom for us.

The lifestyle and world experience in Israel is not as bad as we think, but we still have to instill values of patriotism and honor and diligence in our young children today.

Ever hear of the Selective Service? Every male in the US is required by law to register in case of a future draft.

There hasn't been a draft in the USA since 1973 which means the YOUNGEST person around now who could have been drafted is 57 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What you proved is that you lambasted #1 with many made up names when you yourself are ignorant when it comes to the subject you are screaming about.

in the usa if you were drafted and did not report for service you would be arrested ( or as many did during the vietnam war- they could run to canada)

my question to you
as i respect your position

why are you here trolling the internet and not sitting in yeshiva learning torah?

i suspect if you have time to play online here, you would have time to serve in the army if you were drafted

" I'm 29 years old didn't got no letter no phone call to get in millatery"

Had you not considered that there is no compulsory draft in the United States - at present?

In any case, Alterg, if I were you I would not worry. You would automatically be disqualified on grounds of abject illiteracy, judging by your latest screed.

Because if he was in yeshiva then you wouldn't hear what he has to say.
At the momment he is writing. He is not able to learn at the same time.
Some people are nedeed, to reach out to others, and he is doing that now.

It was very clear that by "draft" card, he meant "selective service" card. Registering for selective service at age 18 is legally required and is for the purpose of drafting people into the military if we should need to. Your response to his ignorance only made yours look twice as bad.

It is a very unfortunate situation that people do not realize that all our strength is due to those who sit and learn tora lishmo, in purity and holiness.
To touch them is suicide to the land of israel and all its jewish inhabitants.
Those who learn, must also learn and daven properly.
Besides this, the army does not accomodate frum jews, so it is a very bad army until this is sorted out. They prefer women and immodesty and a non jewish lifestyle.
Fat lot of good that is for israel!

I think everyone sharing the burden is fair. Let's make it mandatory for all living males to log 5 hours per week of documented authentic Torah learning and for Charedi men of suitable age to serve in the army.

you are correct if he was studying i might not hear his position

but remember as you say "Some people are nedeed, to reach out to others, and he is doing that now"
perhaps he can also find time to reach out and serve his people not online but in the army

How is that, in spite of all the slurs cast by all the frummers, they are quite prepared to be defended by an army of apikoirusim?

All the haredi bench-warmers must understand that if it was not for the "very bad army" they would not even be alive c"v, let alone to have yeshivot in Israel to learn in. They would not be speaking Yiddish but Arabic. In fact, it is debatable if they would even be in the "aretz hakoidesh" at all.

Am I to believe the meaning of shimon's penultimate sentence - that to "prefer women" is also an aveirah?

NOW I understand why the haredim are so fond of child molestation and other crimes against humanity that they are doing all they can to hide from the eyes of the apikoirus public that pays overly heavy taxes to support this growing national cancer of parasitism.

Perhaps the military should just stop defending neighborhoods where the citizenry refuses to serve and allow you all to defend yourselves.

The reality is that the overwhelming majority just don't WANT to serve in the military. They have been raised with a grotesque sense of entitlement where they think that everyone else should have to work hard so they can do whatever they want with their lives.

I am humiliated by people who look like and dress like me, but who have no sense of respect for anyone or anything. They take and take and take and contribute NOTHING... not to their families, not to their community and not to klal yisroel. It makes me sick to my stomach.
