Moshe Pinter, 28, was arrested and charged with a trying to molest a 13-year old boy in 2007, but pled down the top felony charge to a misdemeanor child endangerment offense after the victim declined to testify against him, according to court records and sources.

Pinter was sentenced to three years of probation, but was not barred from working with minors.

For the past year Pinter has been working at Ohr Hameir Yeshiva in Borough Park chaperoning Hasidic teens on weekend getaways while parents had no idea of his criminal past – which also includes two theft convictions.

“It’s scary. My parents fell for it. They had no idea. He should be a million miles away from kids,” said the brother of a former student at the Tenth Ave. school. “They put him right back in the community.”

After an inquiry from the Daily News, a Probation Dept. spokesman said the agency is “investigating” Pinter’s role at the school.

This article is very misleading, and i will explain why.

The alleged crimes took place 7 years ago, when Moishy was 21 years old, and the victim was 17 years old (Not like the article states 13)

He was never convicted of rape, because he was less then 5 years older then the victim and there was no force involved.

He has since then went for professional help, and has changed drastically.

People should be able to move on in life even if they had a problematic background.

So I guy who by super luck got out of a serious felony then was arrested again for another felony and still manages to work in a Yeshiva without the public knowing. But if some boy starts to wear jeans the whole community talks about it go figure.

Sorry but there is no such yeshiva as Ohr Hameir, its more less a hangout, they have maybe 5 bucheim who come there becasue they were thrown out from yeshiva, and have no where else to go.

The only role Moishy had was to bring food for the bucherim, he wasn’t an authority figure to anyone there, other then that the writer should of made better research before he wrote this story, there is more then one misleading and inaccurate info, he wasn’t employed there and there was nothing wrong with him bringing food for them.

This story is old news of something that happened when he was a kid.

Looks like he got some enemies who will stop by nothing to bring him down.

    That is crazy!

What was (or wasn’t) the school’s administration thinking?

Everyone involved in chinuch should be scrutinized with a fine tooth comb; something like this should never have been allowed! Let alone in a school for troubled teens!

    Meshugas!

Would love to hear the school’s explanation for this…

Hellomartin, and webdesign, you’ve been posting the same words on every site where the Daily News articles appears. Nobody is falling for your nonsense. Moshe Pinter wouldn’t have been arrested and charged for any event that occurred when he was 21 and the other boy was 17 – that’s impossible The age of consent in NY is 17. The article reports that in 2007, Pinter was charged with trying to molest a 13 old boy. Since the article reports that Pinter is 28 now, in 2007, he was 23. A 23 old trying to molest a 13 year old boy is a crime. Pinter pled guilty to a crime, child endangerment, and his lawyer never would have allowed him to do that if there wasn’t an actual crime allowed. And he’s changed drastically? He just pled guilty four months ago to grand larceny.

This “gentle” man must be studying for to receive his smicha from the yeshiva!
It is time for everyone to calm down, sit back and give the yeshiva heads a party.

There are a couple things that jump out at me here. First, I dont think it was a good idea for the school to hire him. Even if there is just a chance that he did something like this, he should stay away from schools. However, the fact that the probation didnt include a restriction on working with children shows that obviously the prosecution didnt have a strong case, and they didnt feel he was such a threat to kids. That seems to indicate that it was not a 13 year old boy, and it wasnt a full fledged rape. I dont know the details and I certainly dont know the man so this is just conjecture, but that is what it looks like from an outsider. I understand that the boy didnt want to testify, but if the kid and his parents really thought he was being raped, I would assume they would be inclined to testify. Just some thoughts.

I’m a victim of sexual abuse. I can only tell you that those people aren’t evil but rather very troubled and problematic. If something like this happens it should be dealt very carefully and professionally. The school together with a professional in this area should sit down with the parents and the kid. We should put tremendous pressure for the teacher to go for intensive rehab and therapy. We shouldn’t just throw him into jail, leaving his family behind and his kids at shame and risk for terrible shidduchim. We need to give him a chance for rehab and then for him to be monitored. And then if the team of therapists give him a clean bill of health, we should look out for him for a new career.

” I’m a survivor of physical and sexual abuse”

I was a student in this yeshiva and i know Moshe Pinter PERSONALLY he was not an employee he was the fundraiser of the yeshiva…… So the first half of this article is BS…..

I’m not saying he didn’t do what you say he did….. BUT what i am telling you is that he’s a different person today and he went to a lot of help……… And he wouldn’t dare touch a kid anymore………… and FYI people are trying to close our yeshiva for a long time already and didn’t succeed…….. So here i am fighting for this man who was here to help me all my life whenever i needed help….. he was there for me 24/7…… and they’re taking advantage of the concept of molestation and using it to close this yeshiva down so here is my name “HESHY GELBSTEIN” i will help that yeshiva and stick up for them whenever they need my help….

I’M PROUD TO BE A STUDENT OF YESHIVA OHR HAMEIR

“charged with rape” or “trying to molest”? Make up your mind! Don’t resort to sensationalism. And 2007, mr hellomartin, is 5 years ago, not seven.

    1) Child molesters almost never change, and giving any child molester easy access to children at any time is enabling the predator to irrevocably harm more children–which is unconscionable. Anyone who would knowingly permit this should himself be prevented from ever having any supervisory role over children.

    2) If a child molester seems to have changed, and even if decades have passed, please refer to number 1.

Just to set the record straight, in this case.

This article is very misleading, and i will explain why.

The alleged crimes took place 7 years ago, when Moishy was 21 years old, and the victim was 17 years old (Not like the article states 13) – This info can easily be verified on E-Courts Online.

He was never convicted of rape, and the victim declined to testify because he was less then 5 years older then the victim and there was no force involved.

In regards to the grand larceny charges, this once again goes back 7 years ago, and once again he plead guilty and made an agreement to pay off all the money, he has already paid off 40% of the money.

He has since then went for professional help, and has changed drastically, i know him personally so i can vouch for that.

It is my belief that everyone deserves a second chance no matter how far they went, as long as they acknowledge, understand, and fully regret their past bad actions and take it upon themselves to change for the better.

Now as a side point, to make sure some readers understand the exact circumstances:

There is no such yeshiva as Ohr Hameir, its more less a hangout, they have maybe 5 Bucheim (teenagers 3 of them are over 19) who come there because they were thrown out from yeshiva, and have no where else to go.

The only role Moishy had was to bring food for the bucherim, he wasn’t an authority figure to anyone there, other then that the writer should of made better research before he wrote this story, there is more then one misleading and inaccurate info, he wasn’t employed there and there was nothing wrong with him bringing food for them.

In this case the alleged abuser is not a Child Molester!

Child molesters never get healed, because they will always have their sick preference for a child.

But here this is not the case, the alleged abuser & victim were less then 5 years apart, and there was no force involved, so there should be no reason after professional help to move on in life.

The writer is looking for some publicity by writing this article, but this is very wrong and extremely misleading.

Looks like he got some enemies who will stop by nothing to bring him down.
