The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal in Atlanta refused to take up the squabble Wednesday, instead ordering a U.S. District Court to rule on the standing of the plaintiff in the case. The American Civil Liberties Union sued on behalf of a North Carolina resident who owned property in a neighboring county and was considering buying property in Dixie County but was offended by the monument.

The ACLU sued Dixie County to remove the monument from the front of the courthouse building in Cross City. The six-ton, $20,000 monument was bought by a local businessman who pays for its upkeep.

I’m sure they’d be pleased as punch if someone put up a statue with verses from the Quran or maybe a statue of Molech. After all, it’s not about religion.

I don’t know… why don’t courthouses & publicly funded places just keep away from religious writings & pictures or decorations, all together? It just seems more trouble than it’s worth, to be dragging the scriptures out in public like that just to make a point, when it’s pretty obvious it’s gonna offend *someone*!

Personally, I have no problem w\The 10 Commandments of course, but then where does it end?! Pretty soon, courthouses are putting New Testament stuff up, a picture of Jesus on the wall in every entryway, and an x-mas tree up every x-mas time. Most towns would be just fine w\that, since there’s always more x-tians around than anything else! But what about everybody else?!

This is why it’s just better to leave it alone all together. I’m not sure about suing to get a courthouse to take something down…but then again, I’m not a sue-happy person, and just wouldn’t sue for any little thing, “just because”.

But I also wouldn’t appreciate so much x-tianity being on display, in *tax-payer-funded* institutions! It’s bad enough having to deal w\the barrage of decorations & nonsense that can be found in every shopping store, the moment some secular\pagan holiday is coming up…to have to endure it & PAY for it as well, would be asking for too much!

It’s a shame that the 10 Commandments had to be drug through the mud of an argument like this…but personally, if it has to be sacraficed, in order to avoid avodah zarah later… I say it’s worth it!

This is all part of the spread of the new religion in America. Atheism.

This monument was financed and is maintained by a local businessman, not tax dollars. Why that court agreed to have it, I don’t know. Maybe that’s the mistake there. I would love though to have one like that next to my local district court. It’s a good reminder for all Yidden and X-tians. Who cares about the amalekites and atheists opinion!

No comment on the court case BUT, maybe someone should tell them that the SIXTH commandment is THOU SHALL NOT MURDER not kill.
