Washington - The wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney now has Secret Service agents assigned to her at all times. The move comes as her husband is set to formally receive the GOP presidential nomination.
Mitt Romney has had Secret Service protection since January.
It’s standard practice for the wives of presidential candidates to receive such protection as Election Day approaches.
Agents accompanied Ann Romney to a supermarket near the Romney’s New Hampshire vacation home on Sunday morning.

If you think that is a waste of money, think about how the Obama's waste tax dollars every time they go on vacation. I am not talking about public functions, but when they take separate private jets to the same spot only hours apart. They couldn't coordinate schedules like normal people?

To all the geniuses who believe that giving Secret Service proptection should be governed by their political beliefs. We live in a world where Presidential familes must be protected. We live in a world where presidential candidates families must be protected. It is part of the price of living in this country.

Actually Butterfly, I have to disagree with ya on this one. (First time though!- lol) But I think the safety & security of ANY candidates family members, should be top priority! Think of how many death threats President Obama's wife & children have had?! What if they had no protection?! Only the President, and no one else in his family?! They would be immediate targets!
This world just isn't safe enough for a President's (or candidate's) family to be walking around masses of people, without proper protection. And it's sad that it has to be this way.... but it is what it is. :-(
