“The fact that the Democrats removed a united Jerusalem as Israel’s capital from their platform is more worrying than the argument over Iran,” Rivlin told The Jerusalem Post. “The change may have far-reaching consequences.”

Published earlier this week, the new Democratic platform speaks of US President Barack Obama’s “unshakable commitment to Israel’s security” and describes the security assistance provided by Obama to Israel. It also emphasizes that “the president has made clear that there will be no lasting peace unless Israel’s security concerns are met” and that “President Obama will continue to press Arab states to reach out to Israel.”

According to Rivlin, anyone who thinks that dividing Jerusalem will bring peace is mistaken, and does not understand the Middle East. “A united Jerusalem will help bring peace and stability,” he stated.

The Knesset Speaker added that “rumors of a rift between Israel and the US are wrong,” and that the two countries have a “sharp, unambiguous understanding” on Iran, whose nuclear ambitions threaten not only Israel, but the whole free world.

Rivlin plans to discuss the Iranian threat with Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi later Wednesday.

MK Uri Ariel (National Union), chairman of the Knesset Caucus for Jerusalem, said Wednesday that “finally, Obama’s true face is revealed.”

According to Ariel, Obama previously acted against Jerusalem via surrogates and messengers, but now his actions show his intentions. “We must not worry. With or without Obama, Jerusalem will stay united under Israeli sovereignty forever,” the National Union MK added.

Obama and the Democrats are fools. History has proven countless times that the very concepts of “negotiating” with the Arab countries, or believing that their “reaching out” to Israel are even possible is fantasy. The Muslims are committed to consistent lying, saying words that sound impressive with never any followthrough, and they respond only to military force. Anyone can find the facts to support this. We are viewing, once again, overt messages from the Obama regime that throws Israel under the bus. No president, not even Carter Y”Sh, was so openly disregarding of Israel, and so eager to push Israel into the sea.

May Hashem grant every voting Jew the saichel to recognize this as they go to vote. May BHO experience a history making landslide loss in November.

“The fact that the Democrats removed a united Jerusalem as Israel’s capital from their platform is more worrying than the argument over Iran”

You don’t have to like what the Dems did with Jerusalem in their platform, but that statement by Rivlin might be the dumbest thing of the many dumb things said by many dumb Israeli politicians, ever. You have to be utterly nuts to think that, let alone allow your big stupid mouth to say it out loud.

In fact, here’s something that makes more sense: The fact that someone that stupid can be the speaker of the Knesset is more worrying than the argument over Iran.

P.S. Neither party’s platform now or ever before said “united Jerusalem.” So the whole debate is basically pointless anyway.

Some of the comments remind me of Pogo we found the enemy it is us. Anna Pauker a Jew born in Romania believed Lenin is the messiah, Bela Kun a Hungarian born Jew also believed in Lenin, Rosa Luxemburg also believed in Lenin. Now Mr. Netanyahu who validly fought for Israel and his idol is Zeev Jabotinsky who was a good friend of Mussolini. Better yet a vice-presedential candidate a fervent supporter of Ayn Rand , aka Rosenbaum just conviniently found out that she was committed atheist. Then we have properly clad Jews who denounce on their website the illegal Zionist entity and showered on aminijad silver. Do any of you believe in the deists Washington, Franklin and Jefferson who made it possible that your ancestors could immigrate to this country from some little village in Russia or Poland. Oh, there is a Kibbutz Yad Mordecai, leftist, who do not even have a synagogue and in 1948 beat back Jordanian Leggionaires with knifes when they run out of ammunition. Of course we dispise Barak Hussein Obama but his supports for section 8, food stamps ,etc is welcome otherwise the whole kollel edifice would be in smithereens. Comparative analysis is helpful

Rivlin gives Hussein too much of the benefit of the doubt. Our problems, I am convinced, is not that he “does not understand the realities of the Middle East,” but that he does understands some of those reality and wishes us harm.
