New York – Despite Rudy Giuliani’s protestations to the contrary, Senator Ruben Dίaz (D-Bronx) is still hoping “America’s Mayor” will have another go at City Hall.

In his weekly missive, “What You Should Know,” Senator Dίaz says that if Giuliani does decide to run for New York City Mayor in 2013, he can expect to receive more than 40 percent of the City’s Hispanic vote as a thank you gesture for appointing so many high-ranking Hispanics during his tenure as mayor.
Dίaz also notes that Giuliani showed tremendous leadership in the wake of the September 11th attacks and in ejecting former PLO Leader Yasser Arafat from a concert at Lincoln Center. While Dίaz concedes that Giuliani had a “heavy-handed way of approaching things,” he praises him for cleaning up the City, getting rid of so-called “squeegee men,” and reducing overall crime. “I believe that the heart of New York is with America’s Mayor,” Dίaz writes. “And I believe that in these precarious times, New York City needs Rudy Giuliani.”
Dίaz points out that the five as of yet undeclared Democratic mayoral candidates will face an uphill battle should Giuliani decide to run. But there is speculation that Giuliani will not seek the mayoralty and will accept a Cabinet position instead if Mitt Romney wins the presidential election in November.
Please! No retreads! Guiliani had his time in office; he served two terms, which is more than enough.
He gains nothing by serving another term. If he were allowed to run for another 2 terms, then maybe, but 4 years…. not worth it for him.
GENUG, WE VOTED FOR TERM LIMITS FOR A REASON!
Would the first few posters here prefer Christine Quinn or some other liberal? Have we so quickly forgotten what the city was like before Giuliani? The crime, the grafitti, the fear? How Giuiliani almost immediately began to turn things around? How he refused to give any kavod to Sharpton and the race baiters? How he freed the Fulton Fish Market and other city landmarks from the grip of the Mafia? Such short memories and lack of hakaras hatov.
