Monroe, NY – Multiple Alarm Fire Takes Out Kiryas Joel Building

    Monroe, NY – No injuries have been reported in a multi-alarm fire that destroyed an unoccupied building in Kiryas Joel this evening.

    The cause of the fire, which began at approximately 5:45 this evening at 3 Buchanan Court, is currently unknown but arson is not suspected in the blaze. A spokesperson for the New York State Police told VIN News that at this time they are not investigating the incident.

    The fire quickly raged out of control and burned for approximately two hours, with numerous Orange County fire companies responding to the blaze.

    According to one Kiryas Joel resident the building, which was totally destroyed in the fire, has been unoccupied for the last three months and was slated for removal.

    A elderly sick women did live there in the basement and b”h she was evacuated without any injuries .

    I was driving by on Rt-17 during the fire & the heavy black smoke was drifting all the way to Harriman.

    If the building was vacant, who could have tried to daven in another shul?

    If no one tried to daven in another shul, why was it burned?
