Brooklyn, NY – Police Union President: HaLevi Beating Was Justified

    38

Brooklyn, NY – The brutal beating of 21-year-old Ehud HaLevi at the Alternative Learning Institute for Young Adults in Crown Heights on October 8 was justified, says Patrick J. Lynch, president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, a union which represents police officers.

Lynch told Eyewitness News (http://bit.ly/Qt2B0j) today, “Using force always appears to be severe but is necessary to arrest a culprit who resists. The officer must use force to gain compliance and handcuff the offender. In this case, it is clear from the video that when the officer attempted to take the culprit’s arm he resisted by twisting and turning away.”

HaLevi has been charged with assaulting the police officers who pummeled him.

Rabbi Moshe Feiglin, director of the ALIYA Institute, said Lynch’s comments are outrageous and that the charges against HaLevi should be dropped. “Almost every charge is baseless,” he said. “And even if he was supposed to leave, he wasn’t supposed to get such a beating before leaving.”

Lynch is no more than a button that whenever you press it, it says “the PO was justified”. “The PO was justified “

Is this the police dept. we’re playing taxes for?! They are so untrained, so unprofessional, so childish; just see the video, couldn’t stop laughing when all those officers burst in like kids playing cops & robbers, shame on you NYPD!!!

once he was down there is no reason to beat him.

the beating and the arrest are two different things. I understand the Union head protects the members but in this case is he blind

Chances are that Patty Lynch would be singing a different tune if the ‘culprit’ had been inside of an Irish Catholic Youth Center.

Has the irony of the man supporting the beating being named Lynch escaped anyone?

Blind love or corrupt obligation for being president.

There is no justification to ever use more force than needed.

To determine if force is needed should be a training requirement.

These sickening episodes show that beneath the surface lurk rampant and disgusting corruption.

The penalty should be harsh and severe.

No citizen should need to be treated by copthug in this manner.

Who remembers how they treated one of their own the whistleblower. Thank god he had a recorder.

I was sick to my stomach when I saw the vid. He may have given the cops a hard time in the beginning (maybe he didn’t feel he deserves to be arrested or something to that effect) but to get such a beating!!!!! ooooohhhhh myyyyy God!!!! Its a shame there’s no sound to it, I just imagine how many time the letter Fay (without the middle dot) was used in this episode of NYPD Gone Wild!!

When there is a brutal beating by the police, every defense attorney runs to show off their clients to cameras to make their case stronger. In this case they are hiding Halevi because there was no brutal beating, there are no black and blue eyes or swollen lips and cuts on the body. The lesson here for all is when you will play Zohan with the police and start resisting when they want to arrest you, there will be force used. The cops are not obligated to spend hours chatting with you and convincing you that you need to put your hands behind your back.

The NYPD turned into a fascist entity. I stand by those words. There are some good apples, but their core is rotten.

If they had just twisted his arms, it would not be “excessive force” even if he had gotten hurt. but kicking a man when he’s down is. Pat Lynch was once a p.o. in the 90 pct and good friends with the wmsbg community. He should know better than to rush to judgement just to protect his officers. A more thorough investigation is in order here.

Sorry #3 – Resisting Arrest is only a Class A misdemeanor – not a felony. See our lovely penal code 205.3 Maximum punishment is 12 months in jail. That said, it is something cops abuse. The prosecutor has to prove that he resisted an authorized arrest and intent to do so. If the cop reasonably thought it was authorized then that is authorized. Even if the trespassing charge is dropped the resisting arrest charge still stands.

It’s simply amazing how when it’s a Jew who resists arrest and is taken down by the police (and HaLevy did not sustain any injuries or even any external wounds like a black eye, bruising, etc.), the frumme mentschen suddenly become the biggest bleeding hearts in the world –more leftist than Obama, more anti-cop than the ACLU. But when it’s not a Jew, you’re all such big supporters of law enforcement, such tough guys whose attitude is “give that lowlife another zetz for not listening to the police!” If HaLevy were black or Hispanic or even white but non-Jewish and refused to leave private property after the police were called by someone (security guard, etc.) representing that private property, the reaction among the posters here would be vastly different. You’re all hypocrites.

The cop was simply out of line. He turned into a street hoodlum at the drop of a hat.
Yes, the guy resisted. But he never attacked or lunged at the cop. he may have tried to get away but that is no excuse to use closed fisted blows at a guy you can easly over power in other ways.

So this is guy lynch is either blind, or just a real jerk. i’m thinking both

This beating was less justified that that of Rodney King. King was drunk and high on PCP, and led the cops on a chase in which he and the pursuing officers exceeded 100 mph. Then, when King was finally pulled over, he went after the arresting officers. They Tasered him, but King still went after the arresting officers. The cops used excessive force after King was subdued, and that’s why they were busted. King was also a big guy, 6’4″ and 250.

In this case, there was no chase, no punches thrown by the “suspect,” no nothing. There was never any danger to the arresting officers. Yet the pigs beat the hell out of him anyway, both before and after he was subdued. The charges against the pigs should exceed those against King; what the NYPD pigs did was worse.

Once upon a time, NYC had a police force we all could have been proud of. We had two cops in our family, one very high-ranking brass, the other an inspector. Both would have been appalled at the behavior of today’s thugs masquerading as police officers, and at Pat Lynch’s reflexive defense of them. The real culprit, however, a cop nor Kelly, it’s Bloomberg who’s encouraging this bad behavior.

Sorry, but no one who is alive today remembers when a union boss spoke truth. Of course, the union boss will defend his members. That is not objective in the least, and his opinion has no bearing on fact.

Is “Lynch’ his real name or an approriate nickname??

If physical force is the only solution that Lynch can imagine NYC needs to see that he is not a partner in finding real solutions.
NYPD are cavemen compared to other police departments around the world.
Privatize the NYPD, break the rediculous union and remove the bully cops.

If this young man had been Irish Catholic NOTHING would have happened to him!! The only problem was that he was JEWISH and since when is that a CRIME??? A good lawyer could make a very good case for this young man. Mr Lynch should apologize and retract his remarks. He needs to see an EYE Doctor. Maybe he did not watch the ENTIRE FILM CLIP!! The Boys in Blue need a good talking to — ALL OF THEM!!

Of course he will protect his bad apples, that’s his job as union thug!

There also enlies the problem with unions, unjustifiable protection.
