Washington – Obama To Travel To New Jersey Wednesday To View Storm Damage

REUTERS/Larry Downing Washington – President Barack Obama will travel to New Jersey on Wednesday to view damage caused by massive storm Sandy, the White House said in a statement.

    “Tomorrow afternoon, the president will travel to New Jersey where he will join Governor (Chris) Christie in viewing the storm damage, talking with citizens who are recovering from the storm and thanking first responders who put their lives at risk to protect their communities,” the statement said.

    Obama canceled campaign appearances planned for Ohio on Wednesday because of the storm.

    To #1 - Always with the sarcasm; if this wasn’t an election year, Obama would still go to a disaster area, as George Bush did when he went to Ground Zero on Nov. 14, 2001, and as Clinton did when he visited disaster areas, in the 1990’s. I remember in 1964, when Lyndon Johnson also visited the a designated disaster area down south, whereby tornados destroyed whole neighborhoods. It is what Presidents do, as in addition to being Commander-in-Chief, they are also Comforter-in-Chief.

    I do not see what Romney can do in this situation. If he were to write a huge check, he could help a lot of people, but that would look bad too. The Pres just has to look presidential. I do not know what I would advise Romney to do.
