Yukio Takasu told the General Assembly at the end of its first session following the killer storm on Thursday that the most serious damage was from flooding, which affected many basement offices and the cooling system in the main Secretariat building, and caused a small fire.
U.N. safety and security chief Gregory Starr told the 193-member world body that the flooding also affected many electrical components and tore the sheeting off the top of the 39-story Secretariat building.
The U.N. complex is undergoing its first major renovation in 60 years and staff recently started returning to the Secretariat building.
That’s a shame. I think they should immediately leave New York City and relocate to Beirut.
Maybe now they’ll get the hell outta here for good, what a useless pain of an organization..
maybe it would be a good time to relocate- to a different country
I wouldn’t shed a tear if the building had sunk in to the river
way to go. such a pity it did not knock down the building all-together.
if only the world took the hurricane’s lesson to heart and changed their ways from before. would be nice if U.S. citizens didn’t have to pay to maintain the UN building where all our enemies gather to mock us
I hear Ghana’s nice…
Somalia would be the best place for the un so they can enjoy the civilized hospitality of the arabs that they hold by.
One good thing that came out of the hurricane
