New York - Gov. Andrew Cuomo has told utility companies that there could be fines and other consequences if the state believes they haven’t been aggressive in dealing with storm-related power outages.

Cuomo on Thursday released a letter he sent to the power companies. He said he recognized that the utilities were working to restore power to all the New Yorkers who had lost it in the superstorm.

But he warned companies that their timeliness in getting power back to their customers would be a reflection of how well they prepared for the storm and how seriously they took their responsibility to the public.

Cuomo said those who didn’t respond well could face having their state certifications removed by regulators.

The problem is that the utilities are handcuffed by their UNIONS who mandate 1-2hr breaks and overtime pay after 30 hours and non-stop oversight that ties up the management who have to answer their questions and not be able to direct the company properly.
But, this is nothing new in Obama's Unionized States of North Cuba.

The utilities are doing a great job restoring service...it would help if the politicians would just shut up for a few days and let them do their job without threats.

It took ENO nearly a month to restore all power following Katrina...Con Ed says most power will be restored by Sunday....What are you talking about or doesn't it matter since its more important to bash Obama than to make any sense?

People can't live without heat or electricity for 2 weeks which is what they are telling us. There has to be a way. Fining them is useless because they will just pass the fine onto the customers. This is what happens when you have a monopoly

To bring you out of your sand box, NY isn't covered only by Con Edison, and NYC isn't the whole world, and the problems aren't only electric!! Didn't you see those people looking for food in dumpsters?! Didn't you see the long lines for gas?! People from Monroe, Monsey, Lakewood, seagate, farakaway, will be spending Shabbos by their relatives and friend cause of this storm, which is now 4 days old!! Yesterday night Williamsburg sent food to people in farakaway, Flatbush sent clothing to them, is this the praised Obama reaction?!! And I'm the one that doesn't make sense!! LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL DISORDER!!(proven by you and co. on this forum).
