He says 480,000 throughout New York City and its suburbs are still without power days after the storm hit.

At an afternoon news conference, he said that saying he was “angry, frustrated, disappointed would be the understatement of the decade.”

He said it is understandable that getting the power back on takes time. However, he said the utilities were not communicating with residents who were depending on them to get their lives back to normal.

Unions have help to no end to block fast recovery. The same union thugs obama loves like SEIU and teacher union where you keep teacher you can’t fire.

I heard when Kiryas Joel was told that O & R doesn’t have enough manpower to repair the broken utility poles AND fix all wires, etc. speedily, KJ hired a private contractor to fix the poles.
My point is, can’t the government pitch in instead of complaining? I’m not saying the utilities are right here, but obviously the task is monumental.

Disappointed…….and what are you going to do about it? How about some deregulation? Look at where telephone rates and airline prices are today versus where they were with regulation. The lack of competition is killing us. A second political party in New York state would be a good thing as well. Vote Republican tomorrow.

The damage to the electric grid was unprecedented and whether Cuomo likes it or not, they are doing the best they can to restore service. They have line crews working 24×7 including crews from Canada and California. It simply takes time and many regions of the country have gone through ten day to two week outages without the governors threatening to revoke franchises. Stop whining and allow the power companies to do their jobs.

To #5 - The entire electrical grid in the USA is obsolete. In 1965, a massive blackout (which started in Ontario) struck the Northeast of the USA, including most of New York City. At that time, Con Ed officials were astonded, and stated that it should not have occurred, as there were “safeguards” to have prevented the grid from cascading. In fact, the Federal Power Commission published a massive report, documenting the problem. Yet, twelve years later, in 1977 , New York City was again without power in the summer, because of something “which was not supposed to happen”.
In 2003, a much wider blackout struck the Northeast and the Midwest, and parts of Canada, because the utilities didn’t cut down some trees near Akron, Ohio. As a result, those trees knocked down some power lines, plunging 25 million people into darkness. There has to be a massive project to bury the electrical lines underground. If we can safely send 12 men to the moon and back, then we can update and modernize the electrical grid. Even in EY, most of the electrical lines, are buried underground. Our electrical grid must be convered to a state of the art system!

We were out of power for 8 days. major complaints
    1. No communication with the customers as to when, in what order, etc. People can cope, but need to be able to plan.
    2. Out of state workers were either outright turned away because they weren’t union or are left to idle.
    3. Grid turn on was haphazard and not systematic

if he cares so much why doesnt he takedown the toll he okd so we could go to nj without paying this huge toll if he cared so much he would investigate the mafia port authority that basically traps us but its much easier to blame others
