A Brooklyn car service owner says that helps his business. But that did nothing to ease the gas angst among the commercial drivers on Friday.

Taxi drivers and car services were hoarding gas. The vehicles reeked of gasoline from the extra cans sloshing around in the back seats.

One yellow cab driver apologized to his fare for the overpowering stench of gasoline in the car. He said he didn’t want to run out.

Its even worse on some of the buses where some lunatics have been allowed to board the bus carrying a 5 gallon gas cans with the fumes filling the bus. The police should arrest and charge whoever does this with reckless endangerment and the bus driver who allowed someone to board the bus with a gas can should be summarily fired.

Sent my son out to fill up, my car ends with an odd #. He said the lines are just as bad wherever he went, so he’s taking a trip to Jersey. He did that yesterday for my neighbor. This is purely political, Bloomberg’s on another crusade, this time to stop us using cars & start biking. He’s mamash a dictator: little men (short in stature) always try to make themselves look bigger by bullying the rest of us.

I guess I am not an expert at everything and I am not alone. I bought gas cans and found them confusing to operate.

The people that are smelling up the bus are not closing them correctly. In any event they should not let them on buses and limit how many per car. Any stench represents an unsafe condition and 911 should be called even if it is a bus or taxi.

I regretfully remind people that in the 70’s there was a terrible tragedy involving gas cans. gas was stored in an apartment to have the possibility of driving to JFK to go to Israel. It was a terrible tragedy and I regret reminding those involved but it is for the good of the oilam to remind.

As someone who lives in an affected area, many people need gas not for their cars, but to operate the generators that will allow them to live in their houses while the inept LIPA tries unsuccessfully to restore power. Unfortunately 5 gallons of gas lasts only about 10 hours. Some enterprising bochurim where driving to Jersey and bringing back 200 gallons of gas and charging $60 for 5 gallons, home delivery. For someone who needs the gas to run their home it was worth it. Hope it doesn’t go much longer. BH got power back and was able to lend the generator plus 5 gallons of gas to someone else.
