EPAWashington – More than 85 percent of Muslim voters in the United States voted for US President Barack Obama in the 2012 election, according to a poll by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

The number represents a small drop-off from 2008, in which Obama won 89% of the Muslim vote. Of the 650 American Muslim voters in CAIR’s informal survey, only 4% said that they voted for Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

Similarly, Jewish support for Obama slipped somewhat in the 2012 presidential race but still far surpassed that earned by Romney.

According to exit polls, 69% of Jews cast their ballot for the Democratic candidate as compared to 78% in 2008. Some 30% went for Republican Mitt Romney, up from 22% for the party’s candidate in the last presidential race.

The exit polls were conducted by a national consortium and generally include samples of 400-500 Jewish voters in their national survey.

Democratic pollster Jim Gerstein said the drop in the Jewish vote – of about 5% – is consistent with the drop in support for Obama overall among other key constituencies such as Catholics and white voters. Nationally, Obama’s popular support dropped from 53% of the vote to 50%.

Did they also poll how many Mormons voted for Romney? Why isn’t anybody getting those important numbers? Anybody here going to be surprised when the numbers will show Mormons voted in huge overwhelming numbers for Romney? No? Not me either.

Oh please! This has nothing to do with obama being muslim or whatever else.
The muslims, just like other minorities, including jews, tend to lean towards democrats.

President Obama ALSO won the majority of women voters, latinos, LGBT, the younger generation & Asians, just to name a few groups of people! LOL

But of course, the mention that he won 85% of the Muslims’ vote, will no doubt generate all sorts of snickers & rude comments on here about him.

It’s a shame that after such a huge election loss, people aren’t stopping to take a look at the bigger picture. They’re just going to continue down the SAME PATH that lost them the White House AND the Senate!

Accusing the President of not really being born here, accusing him of being a Marxist, a Socialist, a Communist, accusing him of being a dictator, while at the SAME TIME, accusing him of being weak & spineless! LOL

Almost none of your attacks against the man, stick onto him! You can throw as many hateful labels against him as you want… but none of them have worked, because none of them are true! And just SAYING these things, doesn’t make them true either!

So please… before any of you make a bunch of nasty remarks about him winning the Muslim vote… just remember, it was YOUR nasty remarks, accusations & irrational paranoia about the man, that got him elected for a 2nd term!

There is no evidence that Muslims voted for Obama in any greater number than they would have voted for any other Democrat. Like most minorities, Arabs/Muslims tend to vote for Democrats.

If anything, you would think Muslims would be more hostile towards Obama considering that he has extended the war in Afghanistan and significantly increased targeted drone killings in the Middle East.

If you took a poll of the looters you’ll find that 100% supported Obama!

Jews,Muslims picked Obama. It shows we have no major differences in this country. They abide by almost all the laws we do. (Or we should do) The main difference is between Jews and Christians. This is 2000 year old news.

93% to 96% of African Americans voted for Obama … Imagine that 93-96% of white Americans voted for Romney or any other candidate–the media would have a field day about the racism of these voters.

It’s obvious that minorities are given a pass when they vote for candidate like Obama, and it’s equally obvious that it will be difficult for conservative and Republican candidates to overcome the increasing numbers of minorities eligible to vote in this country.

One wonders what might happen if our community were able to vote overwhelmingly for one candidate. (If news reports are correct, a very high percentage of a certain Chassidic group voted for Obama davka because of his strained relationship with Israel).

Many American Muslims are politically conservative, particularly the affluent Lebanese, Persian and Pakistani expat communities. Bush won Islamic voters by a huge margin in 2000. Lieberman may have been a factor there, but his Bush Sr. also got an overwhelming majority of Muslims in 1992.

However, there are now so many vocal bigots in the GOP now that they’ve probably lost the Muslim vote in national elections for a generation at least. American Muslims won’t vote for GOP presidential candidates for the same reason that Ukrainian Jews won’t vote for Svoboda.
