New York - Former New York State Comptroller Granted Parole |
|
Alan Hevesi AP fileNew York - A state parole board says ex-New York Comptroller Alan Hevesi will be released after serving 19 months in prison for accepting gifts and campaign donations from people trying to do business with the state pension fund.
As comptroller, Hevesi was sole trustee of the fund now valued at nearly $150 billion.
The 72-year-old former assemblyman and New York City comptroller was entangled in an investigation of so-called “pay to play” practices at the fund.
He told the parole board last year that letting a venture capitalist pay $75,000 of expenses for five trips to Israel, primarily on fund business, which the state could have paid, represented an “unprecedented” level of stupidity for him.
He said all campaign contributions were spent on his re-election and he didn’t personally receive any money.
The board’s decision was released Thursday.

Again, why did he have to go to jail, because he is Jewish and a supporter of Israel.

It's always great news when someone is being released from prison. Our justice system is anything but justice, and all of you who still believe in the system, wake up and smell the coffee! Because it wouldn't take long until you prove it to yourself in one way or another.

Do you know anything about this case? To number one. No he did not go to prison because he was Jewish and pro-Israel.To number 4: It is not always a defense to say someone else got away with a crime.
As number 2 said he went to prison because he abused his power. That doesn't mean that I am not happy he is now out. It merely means that his conviction was just, and his sentence was called for by the law.
I imagine that Pimpermuter would be happy if the murderer of Leiby would be released because "it's always great news whenm someone is being released from prison". You either didn't really mean what you said or you are a fool.
