He announced Sunday that the odd-even license plate system would be in effect through Friday.

Bloomberg said that with 30 percent of stations still closed and a major travel week coming up, the extension would make sure there aren’t the long lines that brought about the system in the first place.

Motorists can get gas on alternate days based on whether their license plate ends with odd or even numbers.

Rationing went into effect in the city on Nov. 9 in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. Damage to gas stations and distribution networks had led to hours-long lines.

Gas rationing has ended in New Jersey and on Long Island.

What a loser. He is so out of touch with is humans on earth its quite scary!

There is no reason for this.
It is either Mr. Bloomberg out of touch, or it is his continuing war on drivers.

I was in NY last week and saw many empty gas stations. This is another bloomingidiotberg stupidity.

Too slow to implement it and too slow to lift it. There are no lines whatsoever, why not lift the ban? Regardlless, is this even constitutional? How can the government prevent a privately owned business from selling gas to me?

No,we new yorkers who voted in Bloomberg three times are the losers. He is a big time winner being that hes a billionaire and a three term mayor. At the same time we must point out how selfish and arrogant he behaves to the people who put him in office. He is a disgrace to all we should be ashamed that he is our Mayor.

I must have passed today 100 gas stations and there wasn’t even 1 that had any lines. This whole odd/even business is such stupidity and just adds to the headaches new yorkers already have to deal with.
Besides the fact that this joke isn’t even enforced and you can find odds and evens taking gas any day.
I guess Bloomberg plans to install video cameras and send tickets in the mail for those violating his stupidity.

There’s really no more need for rationing, being that the previously long lines were a result of gas mongering. Did Bloomberg ever think of that? Apparently not.
