Yangon - Barack Obama arrived in Myanmar on Monday, the first visit by a serving U.S. president to the Southeast Asian country, which is opening up after almost half a century of military rule.

His plane landed at the airport in the former capital, Yangon, where he was due to meet President Thein Sein, who has led the political and economic reforms since taking office in March 2011, and Aung San Suu Kyi, who led the fight for democracy under the former junta.

Obama will spend barely six hours in the country, also known as Burma, before flying to Cambodia for summit meetings with the leaders of other Southeast Asian states and partner countries.

Anywhere just to get a ittle honor, and a little attention. It's more then he is getting back in Washington these days so how could you blame him.

You really are a deluded Obama hater, aren't you? The man just won reelection, the Democrats strengthened their hold on the Senate, and Republican leaders are talking about how they'll work with him and admitting their party must change if they wish to remain relevant -- and you claim the president is not getting any honor and attention in Washington. I realize you're living on Planet Limbaugh, but even so, get a grip, dear man.

Wow...you folks who hate the President SO much that you whine & moan about EVERY mundane thing he does, only shows your hatred for him is now boardering on the pathological & you'll find fewer & fewer folks want to join you in your downward spiral. lol

Get some help. The man is our President, whether you like it or not. If you're going to waste 8 years of your life looking for silly things to be "outraged" about when it comes to Obama, you're only hurting yourself!

Meanwhile, he's flying all over the world, making huge decisions & living in the White House! You're not hurting his feelings any! lol

So take a chill-pill & be grateful for a change that we have such an intelligent, friendly & compassionate person as our Head of State. Even if you don't agree w\all his politics...it's still much better than having a dumb know-nothing like Palin in there, embarassing Us right & left around the world...or some greedy banker who thinks people like YOU (yes, YOU), are losers because you don't pay any (or enough) income tax to his liking & don't make millions of dollars a year. As far as Romney was concerned, average people like Us never counted, and now he's walking around BLAMING voters for his epic loss. Unreal.

So give President Obama a little breathing room in his 2nd term. Do it, because it will be good for YOU to relax a little!

When you see an article saying he's the 1st President to visit Myanmar...your reaction *could* be "Oh, that's cool." next time, and then just LET IT GO, since ultimately, it really isn't anything 2be so angry about! LOL

What is YOUR problem. Why do you feel a need to make derisive comments about Gov Palin and Gov Romney. How old are you? Grow up. And try to show respect for all your fellow human being. That is the way to start improving this world

This has been noted time and again by some of the more savvy and knowledgeable readers here, but presidential visits to Israel during a first term are rare. Reagan never visited Israel, Nixon waited until a few months before he left office (during his fifth year in office), Clinton only went for a few hours during his first term -- to attend Rabin's funeral -- and George W. Bush didn't go until his seventh year. So stop demanding something of Obama that was never an issue for previous presidents. You sound ridiculous.

What, and presidential visits to Burma and Cambodia are common??? The fact is, no matter how you look at it, Israel is much more central to US national interests than Burma or Cambodia. The fact that Obama cannot be troubled to visit Israel says volumes.
