EPA/JIM HOLLANDERIsrael - The Israeli military says a soldier has died from injuries sustained in a Palestinian rocket attack that occurred before a cease-fire with Hamas took effect.
The army says the reserve officer succumbed to his wounds Thursday, a day after he was hit. He’s the second Israeli soldier killed in the fighting.
Four Israeli civilians were killed and dozens others wounded by rockets fired from Gaza into residential neighborhoods during the fighting that ended in cease-fire Wednesday night.
Palestinians say 161 people, including dozens of civilians, were killed in the eight-day conflict.
Israel says it launched the campaign to end Palestinian rocket fire on Israeli cities that had flared up in recent months.

B"DE. May his neshoma have a true aliya and he be a melitz yosher in Olam habah as he was here.. And to his family, your son, brother, nephew, uncle, friend, whoever he was to you is a Tzadik and a hero. We don't know why he in particular became the korbon or one of the B"H very few korbonos for this war, but Hashem has his reasons and he must be a very special neshoma. This was a terrible war, a terribly dangerous situation for the entire population of Eretz Yisroel and HE was willing, confident and able to fight to defend the innocent. He was a "gibor" in every sense of the word. You suffered a terrible loss, we all did because the death of every single Jew is a great loss and has tremendous meaning to each of us. But this chayal is in good company with many other Tzadikim who were niftar this past year. Hamakom yinachem etchem b'toch shaarei Zion V'Yerushalayim.
