The unidentified woman approached Trooper Christopher Maniscalco on Sunday while he was investigating a complaint in the town of Guilderland, outside Albany.
She told the trooper that she often saw him around, commended him on his good work, and wished him a Merry Christmas, as she handed him a holiday card, police said.
Maniscalco discovered the $1,000 inside the card when he opened it after his shift.
Police cannot accept such gifts under state law.
Authorities hope to find the woman – described as blonde, 5 feet 8-inches tall and about 40 years old – to find out whether they might donate the money elsewhere on her behalf.
Can’t he just resign for a day?
That’ll resolve it!
Difficult times, can’t even do any thing good these days.
His honesty is killing me. LOL
I wonder how many blond 5’8 women are waiting on line, claiming that they are “the one”!!
I was once given one of those cards where you can buy stuff from Barnes and Nobles as I recall, worth around $25 ro $30, by the mother of a child with mental problems. I asked my supervisor what to do, and she said to give her the card.
This trooper did the right thing. He should be commended.
it wasn’t me…. i wouldnt be able to find an honest cop….
His honesty is very impressive.
Wow. An honest cop. Very nice- but don’t forget that’s probably only about 3 days pay for him-not that earth shattering; but still interesting that he didn’t just pocket it.
