Israel – An ambucycle owned by the volunteer first-aid-and-rescue organization United Hatzalah (UH) — stolen from Kfar Saba and located in Tulkarm — has been recovered after a 10-hour operation of the security forces and the Ituran company. The missing ambulance motorcycle caused concern that it might be used by terrorists in the territories.

The drama began on Monday afternoon when a volunteer for UH reported that his two-wheeled vehicle had been stolen. A quick investigation revealed that it had been taken from his home in Kfar Saba east to Kalkilya and beyond. The thief had even managed to get through a military roadblock into the territories. Near midnight, the ambucycle reached Tulkarm, which led the Israel Defense Forces and Ituran representatives to go in and take possession of the vehicle.

Ze’ev Sofer, head of the transport and ambucycle branch at UH, said that all those involved went beyond the call of duty to get the vehicle back because it could have been used for terrorist acts.
