Flash90Jerusalem – Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s next government could end up being more colorful and feature less people who wear black, coalition chairman Ze’ev Elkin suggested recently in a panel discussion at Jerusalem’s Shalom Hartman Institute.

Elkin spoke at a forum that dealt with the possibility of a coalition without haredim. The event was closed to the press but in a tape of the event that reached Ma’ariv political reporter Ze’ev Kam, Elkin said a coalition without Shas and United Torah Judaism was likely.

“The haredi parties are not going with our bloc,” Elkin said. “For a long time I have been saying that there is no such thing as a right-wing bloc in this election unlike the last election, because the haredi parties are saying they will go with the bloc that will help them settle the problem of exemptions from the IDF.”

Just bringing to surface the statement of Rabbi Meir Shapiro, the Lubliner Rav & Rosh Yeshiva-being asked:”Why are the rabbis pushing themselves with their representatives into govt and politics? The place for rabbis and rosh yeshivos are in yeshivos and kehilos, with their talmidim- not in politics!” He retorted immediately-“When politicianss will be a active solely in politics, than the rabbis will stay in their private locations;but when politicians push their weight into hindering Yiddishkeit and religious future, than we are left with no choice except to stand up and defend for the future of our people and their tradition.”

If this happens it will be the fault of the chareidim themselves for their terrible disunity. May be they will learn a lesson for the next election.

It doesn’t surprise me Bibi/Liberman are “Center Left” when it comes to nationalist issues. They believe in a two state solutions, they have stopped building in yehuda and shomron, they caused the destruction of Jewish homes, they have allowed the harassment of settlers by the Barak, Defense Minister, and they have blocked true judicial reform.

I will be voting for a true right wing party the joint list of “Ichud Leumi/Habayit Hayehudi”. Hopefully they will be the number two party and be able to get some real minister positions.

I also hope that some of the Charadi parties will also be part of the next government instead of other center left parties.
