Rabbi Nuchem Rosenberg claimed he was attacked with a liquid chemical In Williamsburg on Roebling Street at about noon, police said.

According to the NY Daily News (http://goo.gl/1JDvZ) Roseneberg suffered an internal eye burn that limited his vision. Rosenberg identified the alleged assailant. Cops were looking for the man Tuesday afternoon.

The assault comes in the wake of a guilty verdict and a potential 117-year sentence in the Nechemya Weberman sex abuse trial. Reports say leaders within the Chassidic community blame Rosenberg for the many recent arrests and convictions of sexual predators residing in the Satmar community.

News of the assault came to light after Rosenberg posted, “I was just poured bleach on, I’m at woodhull Hosp. Media please come.” on his Twitter account.

Rosenberg is no stranger to the Charedi world, his hotline and call-in phone show, which he claims draws 10,000 listeners, has labeled specific prominent rabbis and educators as perpetrators, earning him a ban by several dozen New York rabbonim in 2008 on grounds of unnecessarily vulgar and graphic language, Lies, and Loshan Horah.

Rosenberg told the NY Daily News, There is no peaceful day in his life,”. “I’m very much afraid.” he said.

Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes was asked about the attack on Rosenberg in a radio interview airing tonight with talk show host Zev Brenner.

Hynes told Brenner he was aware of the incident and if the allegations is true, and the the attack is in retaliation is linked to Rosenberg’s outspoken advocacy for victims of sexual abuse, particularly in light of yesterday’s conviction in the Weberman case, then he will prosecute the person responsible to the fullest extent of the law.

But a Police Department spokesman told the New York Times that there appeared to be no connection to the verdict.

I recall a previous similiar incident. Like the girl’s accusation against Weberman we don’t know what the truth is. Only those involved know the truth, and of course Hashem Yisborach.

They don’t agree with someone so they throw bleach or burn down their homes or put them in cherem etc. Trouble is these victims are trying to fix things not make things worse.

he should get 24/7 around the clock protection. u have no idea to what extent people will go to blame him and torture his family.
people have misplaced rachmanus. they should be there for the true victims who are ruined for life. many commiting suicide, drugs….(i dont know for sure but i have strong suspician to believe my father was a victim….his anger and uncontrollable temper has affected each of my many siblings and myself….scars we bare everyday…when someone gets abused- the victim, family, future spouse, children, grandchildren all suffer the reverbrating aftershocks.)
May Hashem protect the rightous- not the self proclaimed rightous kanaim who act with ulterior motives…and im not referring to Nachum Rosenberg.
DA Hynes- should assign him a security group that is armed.
bleach is one step short of arson…he should get into witness protection, no jokes.

This story is only half true.

The other half which the media is not going to post of course is the fact that Nuchem came into this person’s workplace and started threatening him about a personal matter. (Nothing related to Weberman’s case).

In Weberman’s case I am on the girl’s side. In this case, knowing both sides and inside details I can tell you that there is another side to the story that the media is not telling us.

There was another case like this recently in Monsey where a follower of a certain rebbe nearly burned to death a dissenting member of the tzibur. I hope the same is not true here in Satmar-velt and whoever committed this horrible assault has no connection with the rebbe.

The assault has definitely nothing with that guilty verdict mentioned. N R was bashing someone at his hotline and then went attacking a family member of whom he bashed and it ended him in an Ambulance… He deserves life time prison! I work near the Williamsburg area and see how he terrorizes and dictates this community for no reason!

Whether you like him or not is not even the issue, but to do something like this is an outrage. Everyone has a right for his opinion and of course you have the right to not follow him.

I myself am a big follower of Nuchem I think he is a great voice in a time when everyone is scared to speak up, but that should not even matter.

I would like to see the outrage and condemnation from all who spoke out so strongly against the victim of the now convicted rapist.

He went into a store to terrorize a person and got what he deserves.
He’s a person who has embarrassed klal Yisrul for the past few years daily.
He talks profanity daily knowing kids listen so he’s nothing but a molester him self.
But people have to control their feelings and let Hashem do the job.

Why so many negative comments about a wonderful man who has helped our kinder through the many years of abuse?

The Chassidic world is starting to sound and look like Taliban: clan on clan turf fighting, intolerance of dissent, intimidation of clan members that cooperate with outside authorities, attack on members that speak out against abusers, activists that stand up for justice and equality are ostracized and are victims of acid and firebombing attacks. Rosenberg sounds like that Pakistani girl that was shot by members of Taliban because she spoke up loudly for what was right. When a person is labeled “controversial” for speaking out against child abusers, you know something is wrong with that small world of people who believe they are living a more moral life than the rest of the world around them.

I dont know if anyone knows about this but many years ago Lubavitch chasidim came to williamsburg to teach some holy chasidus like the holy Tanya from the baal Hatanya. They came on behalf of the great tsadik Lubavitch rebbe. Zichrono livrocho. Anyway to make a long story short. Some satmar chasidim or better some people that claim to be Satmar chasidim went to those lubavitch chasidim and ripped their beards and burned their beards etc etc. anyway rumor has it that this orthodox un-licensed counselour was among these people that commited these hateful shameful acts against the Lubavitch chasidim. From what i am hearing is that a lot of thise people from williamsburg which kicked out the Lubavitch chasidim from crown heights got sick or their children got sick or some other kind of major problems. I am not saying this was because of this and that. I am just pointing out.

You guys need to wake up and realize it ain’t the 1800’s anymore. You can’t get away with raping kids just because you’re a “sheiner yid” in shul. You can’t beat people up because you disagree with them. You can’t throw kids out of your schools because the father doesn’t confirm with your ideas.

To all you chasidim who support Weberman because “it’s not true”, “he’s a nice guy, I know him”, or “a chosid can’t get a fair trial”..etc: You are all suffering from cognitive dissonance – look it up and then you’ll understand your pathological condition.

Aside from not believing his accusations – track record is so replete with baseless and false ones, why is he reaching out to the media? That is all he stands for – publicity, not true benefit to the children who need protection. Actually, I was rather upset about the report that bleach was thrown in his face. He needs his mouth bleached, the mouth that spews baseless accusations and curses about anyone who he disagrees with, the one who speaks profanity and schmutz on a hotline for our children to hear (perverting the cause of true kedusha). I do not support violence against anyone, but if someone will do something to Rosenberg, let it be something targeted at stopping him from being a bizayon to the entire community. We need people to advocate for our children and to get molesters out of reach of our children. But Rosenberg is not accomplishing that.
