New York, NY - City Criticized over 911 System Report
New York, NY - New York City’s firefighter unions say the city continues to “flout judicial authority” by withholding drafts of a highly critical report of its 911 emergency system.
The Wall Street Journal (http://on.wsj.com/WaYzvq ) says the unions criticized the city in a court filing Thursday for its most recent effort to withhold earlier drafts of the report.
Last week, the mayor’s office filed notice it was seeking to appeal a Nov. 20 court ruling that determined it failed to show the public interest would be harmed by the report’s release.
The report was prepared at the administration’s request after the December 2010 blizzard.
Critics complained the “final” version the city released was watered down and called for it to release earlier drafts.
A mayoral spokesman said an appeal in the case was merited.
