Brooklyn, NY – Man Sentenced To 35-years In Killing Of ‘Ger Tzedek’ Liquor Store Clerk

    61

Yoseph Robinson (pictured) was gunned down in 2010 by Eion Klass at the MB Vineyards liquor store where Robinson worked.Brooklyn, NY – Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes today announced the sentencing of Eion Klass, 36, to 35 years in prison for killing a liquor store clerk during an attempted robbery. He pled guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree and Attempted Robbery in the First Degree on January 10. The sentence for these two crimes was 25 years and 10 years respectively, to run consecutively for the total of 35 years.

In an unrelated case, Klass pled guilty to Robbery in the Second Degree on January 10 for assaulting and robbing the husband of an ex-girlfriend. In that case, he was sentenced today to 10 years in prison.

The sentences for the two separate crimes will run concurrent. He was sentenced before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Neil Firetog.

On August 19, 2010, while Klass was on parole, he walked into a Midwood liquor store, wearing a mask and armed with a gun. He attempted to rob the liquor store when clerk, Yoseph Robinson, tried to stop Klass as he was stealing jewelry from Robinson’s girlfriend, who was in the store visiting Robinson. Robinson, who converted to Orthodox Judaism over ten years ago, was shot and killed during the struggle. Klass was arrested the following week after police received information from an NYPD tip line.

In an earlier, unrelated incident, on June 28, 2010, Klass approached Patrick Walters and struck him in the head with a blunt object. When the victim was on the ground, Klass and another individual then repeatedly kicked Walters in the face and body, and stole his chain and cell phone. The victim suffered a concussion and was rushed to Kings County Hospital.

Robinson was a former hip-hop record executive but later converted to Orthodox Judaism and kept a very religious life style. In 2010 Hundreds of Orthodox Jews attended Robinsons funeral outside the Shomrei Hadas Chapel in Borough Park.

Would never see the light of day again if he’d done it here.
“In Texas, if you kill somebody, we’ll kill you right back!”

For viciously killing a person in cold blooded fashion you get 25 years manslaughter. Rubashkin for hiring illegal aliens and doctoring some books (even assuming all is true) 28 years????? Vus? Regardless of how much there are people who condemn and hate Rubashkin, this simply doesn’t make sense!!!

Its even worse. This murdered is a repeat offender who was out on parole. Rubashkin has a clean record as a normal family man

It’s very simple, really. This man, depraved as he is, plead guilty and is going to jail.

Weberman and Rubashkin were and are arrogant and criminal fools, shouting loudly about how they are being persecuted, anti-semitism, yada, yada, yada, holding community fundraisers, trying to bring political pressure, smearing the judges and prosecuters, etc, etc.

They asked for the book to be thrown at them, and they got it.

    Here you go again (!)

This cold bloody shooter who said it out the he did KILL a person got away with 35 years and Mr Weberman got this harsh 103 years just cause he was accused for something,
When the 103 years sentence was given everybody said the same joke; “He should have killed her and he would get away with less”, now I see this this is absolutely not a joke, IT’S TRUE!!

Bolivia’s system is problematic?! OURS IS!!

    Hoshem should help us all!!

This shows how corrupt the legal system has become in America Political correct and having nothing to do with Justice. No matter what you think of Weberman he does not desire 135 years. Even if guilt 5-10 would have served the purpose.while a killer should stay behind bars forever

Rubashkin and Weberman both pleaded not guilty and went to full trial.

That was their mistake. A plea deal was offered to both for far less time than ultimately sentenced.

New York Daily News reported that there were 10 other victims of Weberman, but were frightened to testify.

I have to agree with Texas Eli, in this case. For example, Texas is about to execute a female serial killer, who viciously stabbed several people to death. In NY, and NJ, this would not be possible, since both of those states (and others) in their infinite wisdom, abolished the death penalty. In Texas, if “you do the crime, you do the time, or worse”.

While I am so glad that this piece of garbage is getting a prison sentence, I am not happy that his sentence is so short. I think of Rubashkin and Pollard, I am appalled. Weberman didn’t get enough–he should have been given 70 years ( a lifetime) for each item he was sentenced for. This garbage Klass should have gotten a lifetime sentence. It may not have been premeditated, but when you walk in somewhere with the thought of robbing it and you have a weapon–well, in my humble opinion, that’s premeditated because you brought the weapon just in case. May Yosef Robinson be a meilitz yosher for all of us. Baruch Dayan HaEmes

There’s an argument to be made that what Weberman did soemthing worse than what this guy did, as bad as it was. When this guy killed Yosef Robinson H”YD, it was a one time act which he did. The damage which Weberman did to the poor young girl is something she has had to, and will have to, live with every day for the rest of her life.
Also, as the people said above, this criminal got sound legal advice to take a plea rather than taking his chances at trial and possibly getting a life term. Rubashkin and Weberman were too haughty or proud to do the same thing and ended up with long sentences (obviously Weberman’s was more deserved than Rubashkin’s, which was certainly a bit excessive)

I agree there is anti-semitism in the justice system, but if you plead guilty your sentence is much lighter.

So when we see frum Jews plead guilty, we still have to be dan lkaf zechus and assume they are doing it to get a lighter sentence instead of saying “they admit it, they must be guilty”

Every single one of you that thinks Weberman is innocent needs to get their heads out of their rear ends. The entire community, including the Rebbe, made a mockery of the judicial system. He had the opportunity to cop a plea and serve a much lighter sentence, but the arrogant SOB thought he was above the law. I guess the gangster is not so smug now. Too bad they didnt lock up the whole tznius police. They are all nothing but self appointed hoodlums.

If you plead guilty, you get a lighter sentence. That is the system, whether you like it or not. Had Rubashkin and Weberman pled guilty, they would have got a small fraction of what this killer got. What is so hard to understand?
Read the article and understand it before shooting off some emotional reaction.

This business or arrogant prosecutors having the legal means to pile on count after count for essentially the same crime must end!!! Kum Leh M’derabe Minei. If murder is commited one should be put away for murder not possession, evading arrest, assualting an officer, disturbing the peace, violating parole, incitement, dangerous bla bla bla……furthermore copping a plea should not save you a day in prison. We are all innocent until proven guilty and the same justice should apply to a killer pleading not- guilty and to a killer pleading guilty! Just because the state saved some time and money should not let years off a killers sentence. Fullest extent of the law for eveyone equally. This is a TRAVESTY.

Bottom line: Yidden are held to a higher level of morality. If a “Frum” Yid does something bad – he is judged much more stringent than a typical low life who is ‘expected’ to be a robber & murderer.
Sad state of affairs, but it is the reality.

A human being who, by all accounts, was a wonderful person, as well as a fellow yid, was murdered, and the only thing most of the previous commentors care about is the implication they imagine his killer’s sentence has on Rubashkin or Weberman. Shame on you all. Not everything is about Rubashkin and Weberman.

The single reason the Killer got even 25 years for the killing was because he killed an African American (Ger Tzedek).

I he would kill a non black Jew – big chance he would get away with nothing –

A few months ago A few Non Jews raped a girl in Crown Heights and Charles Hynes dissmissed the case because “the girl was mixed up”. (I can’t put link but search “Brooklyn rape case Hassidic Woman”.

Hynes does not need to worry about his election when sentencing this killer, because he killed an African American.
Hynes therefore has permission from the Black community to put the killer in prison.

Why was this not all over CBS radio and all the news? Is’nt this worse than molestaion?

Oh….. I forgot – the killer was not a Hassidic man!!

Imagine what would happen if a Chassid would Ch”v murder a goy?

Mr. Hynes and his News stations would be busy for a long long time.

They would be building new prisons to accomidate all the rabbonim and affiliates of the murder.

Even if a Murderer pleas not guilty and stands trial – he gets between 15-25 years maximum.
(unless he is a religious Jew or some other figure that the public dislikes).

The real answer to why this man only got 35 years when other less crimes get equal or more time is that a Black man’s life is worthless in this country. Frankly, I’m surprised, pleasantly, but still surprised, that he received that harsh of a sentence.

Hynes must score points by the African American community. He therefore gave a longer than usual sentence to the killer of this African American Jew.

Hynes locked up almost 100 Religious Jews.
I think that Hynes locked up the more Jews (in such a short period) than any politician in the last 20 years.

    Is this Legal?
Since when is it legal in this country to single out a certain race and say “I’m running after Hassidic Molestors”.
Imagine Hynes would say “I’m running after black criminals” – He would need to resign the next day.

Of the 500 killings each year in the City how many get such a big sentence?

I would like of someone does research.

I am so sick and tired of people comparing sentences from cases like these to Rubashkin and Weberman. This man entered into a plea bargain. Rubashkin and Weberman did not. Not only that but, in both the Rubashkin and Weberman cases they engaged in activities during their cases that basically enraged the justice system. Rubashkin committed perjury on the stand, he helped witnesses flee the country, his supporters sent death threats to the judge, he has never shown even the slightest bit of remorse and continues to taunt the system and he was sentenced under federal guidelines which are very harsh. Weberman and his people intimidated witnesses, threatened the family, obstructed justice etc etc. Once again without any of those extra reasons to throw the book at them, I state again for the thicker people here, you cannot compare a plea bargain to guilty verdict after trial.

So let me see if I understand some commenters here. DA Hynes made sure that the defendant here was sentenced to a lengthy 35 years because the victim was black (44). DA Hynes allowed this defendant to get away with murder and receive a short sentence because the victim was Jewish (39). Frum racism at work?
Let us remember the victim and mourn him.

I’m curious. Why was a plea bargain offered if the whole thing was caught on video? Plea bargains are extremely common here in Harris County (Houston, TX), but under these circumstances the actor would have been sentenced to death almost assuredly. Is the prosecutor’s office just ineffective?
