The New York Post reports the incident happened Sunday at Columbus Circle. A man in his twenties hit his head and stumbled onto the tracks.

The next train was supposed to arrive in two minutes when Garrett O’Hanlon jumped onto the tracks.

Seeing his struggle, Dennis Codrington jumped in, too. So did Matt Foley. The three worked quickly as the train approached.

Riders waiting on the platform also helped lift the man.

The three men got up just in time.

First responders rushed the unconscious man to a hospital. His condition was unclear.

    To #1 :
What’s this a competition? We have good people among Jews and non Jews alike, and unfortunately, bad people among both too.
We should all strive to be from the good ones, whether Jewish or not.

Your comment is senseless and you obviously realized that yourself since you posted anonymously.

To number 12: The essence of the Jew may be kindness (though as you yourself alluded to, this trait is often sorely lacking) but it doesn’t mean non-Jews somehow lack this inherent trait. I know you can pull certain rabbinic sayings that seem to say that, but I can counter with other rabbinic sayings about how there is rightousness among all nations. To number 13: If you took every human being involved in building or operating gas chambers, burning people at the stake (by the way, far more non-Jews than Jews have been burned at the stake throughout history), perpetrating pogroms, etc, the total would equal a fraction of a fraction of non-Jews — even in those countries where atrocities took place. There have been tens of billions of non-Jews who have been born and lived out their lives since the creation of the world — and most of them never heard of a Jew. So to tar all non-Jews as you do is not only hateful and unfair, it’s downright stupid.

Leave it to yidden to argue over an act of kindess. These comments are so childish. Thank G-d they were all saved, and another tragedy did not happen. Look at Hashem’s Hand in play in putting these 3 there to save this guy. Lets push for ladder like fenses inside the walls, so people can climb up, and there wont be any more tragedies. We cannot rely on good semaritans all the time, as they are risking their lives too.

How does it always become an internal argument here???? These men responded because it was the RIGHT thing to do and most people who react as they did are special human beings! Thank Hashem that they were there to help.

There is good and bad everywhere.
regarding chessed organizations- I just called one very popular one- that is running huge ads everywhere- I am going through a terrible time right now and humbled my self and asked them for help.
Their response “it’s too late” in a very aggressive tone. when I asked them if all the Gedolim that endorse it know & do they think that this is a proper answer- I was told that “It is too late even for pesach….there is a small window open for people to apply and those that need tzeddaka know when the window is open….some FARSHLEPTE people call at the last minute…. ”
so not only am I poor and lowering myself for the first time in my life- asking a basar v’dam for help…. I am now also “farshlept”…and was strongly told that even until pesach they are NOT accepting new applicants.
Now many of you will be seeing the ads in every newspaper until chol hamoed pesach… just know that in addition to me, there are many other families who will suffer in poverty because we are farshlept and it is too late…
Baruch HaShem that humans do not run the world and only HaShem does…. we are NEVER too late to daven to HIM.
