Newburgh, NY - Mayor Nick Valentine is announcing this afternoon that the City of Newburgh is considering a pilot program in which police officers will have tiny cameras mounted to their firearms.

This would make Newburgh the first city in the country to try such technology, according to the mayor. The mayor’s announcement, at this hour, comes on the heels of a report by civil rights lawyer Michael Sussman and other local groups that recommended ways the police could build greater trust with residents following serveral controversial incidents. More details as they become available. [record]

SMILE!!! You're about to get shot dead!
Sounds better than: "Police" put your hands up!
Once you're in the cross-hairs, the camera isn't going to protect you!!!
