The Canadian company is relying on the redesigned BlackBerry to fuel a comeback. The pioneering brand lost its cachet not long after Apple’s 2007 release of the iPhone, which reset consumers’ expectations for what a smartphone should do.

Blackberry unveiled the new BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 in late January. The Z10 is available for purchase in a number of markets around the world and will be available in the U.S. this month.

The company did not disclose who placed the order, but said Wednesday that it came from one of its established partners. Shipments will begin immediately.

Blackberry issued the statement just ahead of its quarterly earnings report on March 28.

The company’s shares jumped 77 cents on the news, or more than 5 percent, to $15.24 in late trading Wednesday. The company’s stock has more than doubled since autumn on the anticipation surrounding its new devices.

BB10 is better than iOS and Android so I
welcome it. And it is well worth $199. It is
selling for more than GS3 and iPhone 5 in
    some countries for a reason.

1 million BB10 phones from one partner
(likely AT&T). Means Verizon will be following
suit very soon. IMO, go long BBRY, and short
AAPL. BB is back, bigger and stronger than ever!

I suppose we ought to give messages #1 and #2 , but they appear to have been submitted by the same person. Their style and their layout are far, far too similar.

A clear example of sock puppetry if ever there was one. It’s bad enough that the original article has all the hallmarks of a Blackberry public relations handout as it most definitely is *not* news by any description.

I can’t help be amazed at all these bb haters, yes I love bb and will definitely be getting the Q10, but I don’t bash the other platforms as apple or android as much as I don’t care for them, are they scared of a bb comeback ? Or does it bother them that the qnx technology that bb 10 Is built on is far superior to the other operating systems? The facts are that bb10 is excelllent and they are selling very well worldwide.
Blackberry 10 has brought some exciting inovations the smartphone market, as a top notch typing experience, very good notifications, a great camera, seperation of work and personal info, and the hub, which reviewers have rated highly, and a powerfull browser.
For me personally I like the fact that the the Q10 has a physical keyboard, and that I can remove the battery and swap it with a charged one, as I usually go through at leat 2 batteries a day (without having to use a mophy or the likes of it)
I have used an android device for a few days during hurricane sandy, when my verizon service was down, and let me tell you, I coudnt wait to get back to my blackberry

My guess is AT&T or Verizon
I read an investor site today and a member of the site
    said they pre-ordered the Z10 on-line on
Tuesday….they checked the status of their order
today with an on-line AT&T rep. In the chat the rep
said the order would be delayed due to they had
ALREADY sold out of their pre-ordered stock and had
placed a back order to replenish stock.
Then this news hits this afternoon….I think it is AT&T.
It could be Verizon though….they have the exclusive
rights to sell the White Z10 and I hear their pre-order
demand is high for that phone as well.
Overall this is excellent news for BB…their release
around the world has been very successful with
demand higher than supplies and it looks to be the
same in the U.S. Their stock rose almost 10% on the
news…it is safe to say that it looks like BB is back in
the conversation when it comes to the future of
    mobile computers.
