Pittsburgh, PA -The lone GOP candidate for mayor of Pittsburgh will be sending a proxy to address a Friday night caucus so he can attend Sabbath.

TRIBlive.com (http://bit.ly/17vm3SM) is reporting that Josh Wander, 42, said that, as an Orthodox Jew, he cannot attend Pittsburgh’s Black Political Convention candidates forum scheduled take place between 6 and 9 p.m. on Friday April 19th, and that he has asked “good friend” and like-minded conservative, Baptist minister C. L. Bryant from Grand Cane, LA to serve as his proxy.

Wander thanked Rev. Bryant for agreeing to stand-in for him and said he doesn’t foresee any problems because their “message” is the “same.”

Organizers of the event say Bryant’s appearance will “not” pose any problem.

The event is tailored around issues that affect Pittsburgh’s predominantly black neighborhoods.

Both Wander and Bryant say they believe Democratic initiatives have been exploiting blacks for years.

Wander, who is running unopposed on the GOP ticket, said he also plans to run as a “write-in” candidate for the Democratic nomination.

Minimum wage is set by federal and state law, so he would have no ability to do that. But in any case, competing based on lowering your own country's wages to third world levels is not way to create a prosperous society.

The last Republican to win a mayoral election in Pittsburgh was John Herron, in 1933. He was a labor union leader back in the days when a lot of Republicans didn't think that labor unions were evil. This is a rather astonishing 80 year run of failure for the Republican party, similar to the 82 year run of failure in Chicago, and longer than the 62 year run of failure in Philadelphia and the 50 year run of failure in Baltimore. Republicans might want to look at themselves to see why they can't win elections in places like Pittsburgh.

Yes, yes. Dems did such a "good" job in cities like Chicago as evidenced by the shooting-gallery atmosphere. You think that failure means losing elections. I would rather focus on the results of Dem rule, which always end up creating toilet-like cities such as Detroit. All of the highest crime cities have firmly-entrenched Democrat machines in charge. And they're all in awful condition.

This wonderful Yid is trying to change that.
