YNETnews.com (http://bit.ly/Zygj4D) is reporting that the stickers, distributed by an organization associated with the Breslov Hasidic movement, are now being advertised in a leaflet being circulated on behalf the Purity of the Camp, a leading advocate in the “filmless flight” movement.

The leaflet features rabbis modeling the new stickers, along with other eye-protection options.

Previous alternatives for Jews looking to shield their eyes from in-flight movies have included personal screens, scarves, and shawls.

    Hmmm….Lets’s think about this…
1.Going against the directive of manyPoskim who say it is better to stay home with your family than to go on this mission
    2. giving money and supporting the economy of the Ukrainian murderers ( who according to many accounts where the most vicious bloodthirsty killers of our people)
3 inventing a new method of getting close to Hashem
4 believing that you can achieve ‘ salvation’ by reaching out to man- which smacks of idolatry
for some reason all of the above are not problems
the real problem is the potential of shmutz that one would see on the plane- perhaps better than shielding their eyes they could avoid the problem by staying home with the Mishpacha

I don’t agree with this eye-wear (just dont look and you can not attach your headphones so as not to hear.)
However, to say that going to uman is avoda zara is a bit far. There are many who go for spiritual uplifting and recognize R’ nachman as a shaliach to Hashem not chasvishalom like something on par to Hashem.

The airlines give out “eye masks” for people who want to sleep during flight. I suggest that they make use of these. Or else bring a sefer.

Babushka- Your idea makes sense and would make the point in a subtler way but these guys have a point to make. I find it quite immodest and lacking in self-respect.

Silly. If you don’t want to watch a movie, don’t watch it. Open a Sefer or sleep.

“The devices have recently gone on sale in ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods of Jerusalem and elsewhere.” (The Times Of Israel, May 7, 2013)

Now, that’s a unique business approach- the איחוד הקהילות לטוהר המחנה selling eye wear that inhibits vision! It’s the old story of ‘Follow the Buck’ again disguised as a matter of טהרה. Now, if they can come up with something that inhibits the ‘Shmutz’ inside their heads, they’ll really have something there! Only a complete נער could enjoy being laughed at!
