Why are the chareidim so against going to the army? Is it because they don’t want to fight for the state or because they fear assimilation?

Funny that you’ll probably never see this on CNN news…

Its rare that one feels satisfaction seeing another yid with a bloody face but in the case of these miserable chareidim who attack the police and security forces who are just doing their job, we can make an exception. Ad masi do we have to tolerate this eruv rav and their so called “gadolim” who advocate against sharing the burden of protecting EY through having a strong military to stand against surrounding arab armies and terrorists. The army has shown it is willing to accomodate their religous needs but they have shown zero flexibility and insist they will not compromise. Attacking those who do serve is over the line and those who thrown stones or defy the police deserve to be beaten to a pulp and thrown into jail.

the US exempted the Quakers from the Draft because of their religious beliefs – Haredim need to make it clear that our religious belief is against Zionism – we are not “helping the Medinah” and “doing our part” by learning – chas v’shalom! Adaraba! We are only serving Hashem with our learning. Of course we want our learning to protect all Jews, but that has nothing to do with the Medinah! If we make this clear, we can go to the UN and beg, as Rav Dushinsky zya did that the Haredim should not be ipso facto “Israelis”. Then we can see peace with our neighbors and the coming of Moshiach bimheirah b’yameinu!

Regardless of your point of view, these photos and videos are tragic and heartrending.

Violence has no place in our culture, not from the Haredim vs. the Police and not from the Police vs. Haredim.

The Haredim are provoking Sinat Chinam, and so are the police. Hitting a Jew with a stick is the path of Eisav, not Jacob.

Shame on all of them! These photos are sickening. G-d have mercy.

While their wives and daughters are cleaning up the dishes from yom tov, they apparently chose not to help them. Although I expect they did daven before going on their rampage (I hope they at least prayed that no one will be hurt), they apparently did not utilize motzae yom tov for learning or any other mitzvot, but in order to cause a huge chillul Hashem. And in the meantime, the policemen conscientiously fulfill their duties, while their families are waiting for them at home, fearfully.
Something is wrong here. And if you need more than 2 seconds to figure this out, probably something is wrong with you, too.

i think they would make pretty good combat soldiers. looks like they might have shot themselves in the foot by demonstrating so forcefully

What a hilul hashem, (on the part of the haredim). As an Orthodox mother whose husband, sons and sons in laws have proudly served in the army and still managed to be bnei torah, I resent the Haredim demonstrating against going into the Army. One of my sons was the only religious soldier in the unit and when he quietly picked up a Netivot Shalom to learn on his own, he was joined by some of the other non-religious soldiers who wanted to know what he was learning. Another son was the only religious soldier on the base and when Friday night came, no one would start eating until he made kiddush. They still are very religious and continue to positively influence others in their own quiet ways.
If the Haredim were truly religious and confident in what they believed, they would realize that they could be examples and lead the country in kiddush hashem. Instead they parrot the words of their Rabbis who are not interested in turning us into the great nation that we were meant to be, but instead cause hilul hashem. It seems like the Rabbis like to keep their people poor, dependent and unable to think for themselves. Shame, I feel pity for them

What about the other option of community service, within their own communities?

The Parsha talks about the counting of men and not for learning in the Kollel or hanging around in the streets. If someone is a real learner, great, let them learn, but everyone else needs to take on some responsibilities. How do you expect every other Israeli to feel, especially Frum ones who son’s are risking their lives to protect the country, including these protesters who are not contributing?

That is what Nachal Chareidi is all about. Special accomodations are provided; they daven, learn, etc. The biggest things is, they now have opportunities and skills available to them, so they can support a family, instead of just taking and turning their wives into slaves.

REal learners, stay in Kollel, everyone else, contribute to society.

I was there and the police behaved like absolute animals lashing out at anyone who was near them. If this had happened in any civilized country there would be an outcry. Take a look at the picture above of the nazi imitator with his club and the bochur scared out of his wits. What harm was he doing to anyone that this animal set out to attack him. The modern orthodox – next time the police should bring dogs – and the chillonim are like the yidden who did the oppressors will during the holocaust.

I doubt that any serious learner got beaten up.
