Jerusalem – For some time before Sunday, a strong herbal aroma wafted through the halls of a Kiryat Gat school for haredi girls, puzzling the school’s faculty and staff. On Sunday, the principal decided to investigate, and made her way to a basement bomb shelter, where she stumbled upon a marijuana grow room, Negev subdistrict police reported on Sunday.

The principal called police and when investigators arrived at the scene they found a few dozen marijuana plants, grow lamps, irrigation equipment, and fertilizer.
Head of the Kiryat Gat police Ch. Supt Ofer Shomer said on Sunday that police believe that the lab had been in operation for at least a few months, and that police “will do everything we can through undercover and open operations to find those responsible for running the drug lab.”
Police have still not made any arrests but have said that one possibility they are examining is that people not associated with the school decided to move their operations to the building under the assumption that no one would check a haredi girls school.
Charedi girls gone wild? Lets hope not.
Whats the big deal if a few of the younger rebbeim grew small amounts of marijuana either for their own use or to raise money for the yeshiva? Its been shown not to be harmful and the drug laws of EY need to be updated to reflect the new atitudes towards posession and use of small amounts of marijuana. In Washington, D.C., one of the first legalized outlets for the sale of marijuana is a rav who relocated from the West Coast. His dispensary will be located several blocks from the capital. The Charedime should be commended for taking a more progressive approach to this issue.

Well, to be perfectly honest, when it comes to the מעשה הקטורת in שמות ל’ כ”ג, one of the ingredients is קנה בשם (Bosem leaves), or ‘K’nei Bosem,’ which might (I say ‘might’) be transliterated and translated into ‘cannabis.’ But, of course, I could be wrong.

How typical! When upset by someone’s post, resort to insulting him! Whatever #2 may possibly be, you fall into the category of:
כל המלבין פני חבירו ברבים כאילו שופך דמים
and:
המלבין פני חבירו ברבים אין לו חלק לעולם הבא
If you wish to disagree, disagree like a בן תורה, not like an עזות פנים!
