Brooklyn, NY – Last week a news website posted a “confirmed” report citing “reliable” sources that I was a candidate for the 44th NYC Council Race challenging the incumbent.

This triggered false rumors across the neighborhood. In my effort to squelch these rumors I would like to state unequivocally and unambiguously that I never declared or announced that I am a candidate. I am not a candidate.
I want to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and many well-wishers for their expressions of support and encouragement, and I am sorry for their disappointment that I am not a candidate.
If I read correct it does not state he will not run ! He just wants we should urge him to run ! I believe that every local politician should have a real race every time he is up for re election ! Go rabbi Isreal Go
so sorry to hear that.
was looking forward to have an honest politician representing the community
I wonder why the very thought of chaim israel running sparked fear and apprehension the amongst those challenged.
Rabbi Israel, you should run. Bring some trust & honesty back into out community
Dear Chaim Israel. Its so sad that you dont want to run for office. Its about time you do something for Brooklyn. You’ve been so active at SEBCO and the Y. Now it’s time to move on. Com’on, we need you.
There not many viable personalities in our community that are qualified and generate enthusiasm. Rabbi Israel has been serving our community in many capacities with wholeheartedness and dedication. His mother, Rebbetzin Israel, she should have a quick and whole refuah shleimah, was the foundation upon which Bikur Cholim of Boro Park was established. Chaim has this Chesed running in his blood. Rabbi Chaim Israel would be the ideal candidate. Chaim Israel is the ideal candidate. Chaim Israel should run. Chaim Israel must run.
