Tel Aviv – An official at a Muslim cemetery in Jaffa said Friday that the remains of dozens of Palestinians killed in the 1948 War of Independence were discovered in a mass grave on Wednesday, AFP reported.

The discovery of six chambers full of skeletons was made during renovations at the cemetery, according to the report.
AFP quoted Jaffa fisherman Atar Zeinab, 80, as saying he had helped collect the bodies of those killed in fighting south of Jaffa during the 1948 war and bring them to the cemetery for hasty burial without ceremony.
“I carried to the cemetery 60 bodies during a period of three or four months,” AFP, quoted Zeinab as saying. “We used to find the people in the street and most of the time we didn’t know who they were.”
Zeinab added that because of the danger of ongoing fighting, the bodies were piled on top of each other in already existing burial plots in the cemetery, rather than in accordance with Muslim custom.
“We carried them early in the morning or in the night,” he added. “We put women, children and men in the same place… nobody prayed for these people.”
Arabs make up around a third of the 46,000 residents of Jaffa, where they were a majority before the 1948 War of Independence.

If these arabs don;t want dead bodies then they shouldn’t start wars!
Interestingly though, these arab species aren’t too concerned about 80,000 plus of their brethren slaughtered over the past two years yet lose sleep over 60 of them from back 65 years ago! What a bunch!

I feel bad for all peaceful people who meet a violent end. I recall that the yishuv lost about 1% of its total population in the War of Independence, a staggering loss. Had the Arabs won, there would have been an orgy of mass murder. The Mufti told Hitler to leave the Jewish problem in Palestine to him. Repeat to yourself, “Arabs are not Quakers.”
I’m sure Arab media will try to twist this and make it sound like a mass grave in the style of the Holocaust, where the Germans shot Jews as they stood over these graves.
This wasn’t a mass grave, just a large hole where Arabs dumped the bodies of their dead – most of whom were fighting against the fledgling state. This was a war, and tragic as it may be, it was no ‘Holocaust’
There was a small arab plane that crashed into an arab cemetery during the 1948 war. The arabs claim that it was shot down. So far, over the years, the arabs pulled out over 4500 bodies from the wreckage.
How many Jews, who were killed in a war that Arabs started, did the Arab bury? They only care about these things if it can score PR points.
I suppose it deserves looking into.
