Brooklyn, NY – Warring Satmar Factions Unite For Rally Against The Draft In Israel; Lakewood Will Not Participate

    77

Satmar newspapers reporting the upcoming protest Brooklyn, NY – In a rare display of unity, both warring factions of the Satmar Hasidic movement will assemble in Manhattan’s Foley Square at 3 p.m. on Sunday to stage a joint rally protesting efforts by the Israeli government to draft ultra-Orthodox Israeli men into the IDF.

According to the Thursday issues of Der Yid and Der Blatt, the two weekly newspapers serving the Zalmonites and Aronites respectively, a deal has been reached between the two Satmar Hasidic factions and both Chasidims are now being urged to come join the unified protest.

In Israel, draft legislation was agreed upon earlier this week setting quotas for draft-eligible ultra-Orthodox men, while increasing the possibilities that criminal penalties will be enacted for those resisting the draft.

With this joint agreement in place, organizers now estimate that more than 20,000 will attend the event.

Speaking this afternoon on conditions not to be named, a BMG official who spoke with VIN News dispelled rumors that the Lakewood establishment plans to participate in the rally.

“There is not an ounce of of truth in such reports, The Lithuania Yeshivas and Jews of Lakewood will absolutely not participate, , and our Roshei Yeshivos are not supporting this,” said the source, citing the fact that the Gedolim of Eretz Yisroel are not supporting this protest being held in the U.S.

No point in a demonstration at Foley Square. If anything it’s a chillul Hashem to show the goyim, disunity among our people by dermonstrating in New York. Now if they would all go to Eretz Yisroel to demonsttrate that would be more appropriate.

Wish we could stop this nonsense. The whole world is watching how Jews want to destroy Israel. Can’t they do anything more positive to improve our image? Can’t they visit sick people in our hospitals or read to our children? Do a mitvah instead of these mindless protests.

So the Satmars are essentially recognizing the State of Israel. As we’ve see too many times in the news recently, the Satmers should focus more on cleaning house.

Historically, Orthodox young men have avoided serving in the Israeli army, often using their ongoing study in a religious academy, known as a yeshiva, as an excuse for exemption. But last year, after the Israeli supreme court struck down the law granting yeshiva students exemption, the Orthodox community was left without a legal means of avoiding service.
The current government is preparing a plan to draft some or all of the Orthodox in the near future. Most in the Orthodox community would rather go to jail or emigrate from the country than be drafted. Ironically, the so-called “Jewish state” is becoming the most difficult place in the world for Jews to follow their traditional laws and beliefs.

The Orthodox in the Holy Land have the Torah, international law and justice on their side. They will fight, and we will fight for them, until they prevail and are free to continue living according to their beliefs.

The article says ” that Lakewood claims non of the Gedolim in A”HK r supporting this portest, don’t know which Gedolim they r referring 2, but I’m 99% sure the Eida HaCharaidis is 4 sure behind it. Satmar & the Eida r both Hungarish Chassidim & majority of them r Satmar & Toldos Aron which both hold Reb Yoel as the Godol HaDor & from the Sefer VYoel Moshe & Al HaGeila Val HaTmira

A Jew bringing a lawsuit against another Jew in secular court, as Satmar has done and continues to do, is a clear violation of an express Torah prohibition. Who are they to criticize? What prohibition is there, Biblical or Rabbinic, to serve in a branch of the army that complies with all Halachos.

This is an issue in Israel. Why are Satamar (who supposedly don’t even believe in the state of Israel) getting involved here in America? Furthermore, why is going to the army such a bad thing? They want support from the Government but when the Government asks for a favor in return, they basically give a FU to them.

If these people were educated then they would know that during our wartime eras, there were many Jews who served proudly in may capacities and yes, even as Chaplains.

The problem here is simple: Some Rabbonim are ignorant of current events and refuse to open their minds to it. I have a question though: Why is it that here in America we can work and still find time to learn but in Israel if that 4 letter word is mention all hell breaks loose?

Did not Zevulan work in order to support his brother Yissochar who spend everyday learning? We see from here that the Torah says that one needs to work to support themselves which enables them to learn and have a family. Are the rabbonim now claiming that they are better then the Torah?

We are in Golus. When the Eibishter sent us into Golus to live amongst people of other nationalities, He told us to be civil and have sincere kindness, to our new neighbors, and then we will be Zocheh to have the Geulah Shleimo.
We must explain to our children, that the Memreh in the Gemoroh, regarding the Umos being our Avodim in Yemois Hamoshiach, does not mean what it sounds like.
Chas Vesholam to be Mispallel for Moshiach while having in mind, that our Shochen will be an Eved.
And we must explain to them, that the Halochos of To’os Akim, and Hashovas Aveido L’nochri, and Shor shel Yiroel Shenogach Shor Shel Nochri, all these Halochos do not apply in todays days when we live amongst civilized Nations.

I am trying to understand this draft can someone please enlighten me, 1) why aren’t the Arab being drafted as well? 2) its only 3000 bucharim a year what is the big fuss all about let them stay in yeshiva 3) why is this the first thing on the agenda of the new government when there is much bigger budget problems? The only answer what i can think of is רשעות from the Israel government

Naarishe brothers, still with the mentality of the dark ages!

Two brothers with many followers, only because of who their long lost ancestors were, who will never agree on anything, finally agree on an issue that they can’t effect!

With Zaali and Roini leading the pack Moshiach certainly can’t be far behind!

If you are privileged to live in Eretz Yisroel, there is a clear obligation and responsibility to protect Jews and even straw explicitly stated in Shulchan Aruch 229. If someone claims that he has no such obligation, he is plainly not religious and not adhereing to the Shulchan Aruch and the Torah, not even if he dresses as and claims to be a Satamar Chusid.

    # 26 Nobody appointed me for anything.
Who appointed Netanyahu to speak in the name of world Jewry?
Who appointed Malcolm Hoenlein to speak in the name of American Jewry? There are tens of thousands of Jews worldwide who want nothing to do with the state of Israel.Im no Arab loving person but each time Israel goes to war it doesn’t bring any love for Jews worldwide.

#42 The 1929 Hebron massacre is something Zionist distorted the facts what led up to the massacre. Read what the late Rabbi Baruch Kaplan, who was a principal of the Beis Yaakov Girls School in Brooklyn, and who was a student in the Hebron yeshiva in 1929 at the time of the killing of Jews by some Arabs. Rabbi Kaplan explains how events unfolded, and how it was the arrogant and cowardly Zionist maniacs who perpetrated the events by provoking the Palestinians.

58 comments?? So many of you post about how awful Satmar are and yet your own words are vitriole. Why does an article about fellow Yidden reveal so much hatred for other yidden.

To #20 Maybe because we have many Satmar in Yisroel studying…not think about that?

Isn’t it ironic, for the last 14 years these two brothers have been at each others throats, fighting in secular courts for every building or piece of real estate and even their cemeteries,(and having spent over $12,000,000 in the process),for the last 14 years these two brothers have not attended each others simchas,as a matter of fact they avoided even appearing in the same room,as a perfect example last week there was a major asifah and rally in williamsburg to explain the dangers of the internet, and even there these two characters could not bring themselves to do it together, and it was held at two different locations on the same day.
But when it comes to their irrational and disgustingly pathological hatred of Medinas Yisroel, there these two warring gangs united their forces in order to besmirch and do damage to Israel.
The same phenomena we can see with the Arabs, where all these murderous terrorist organizations,Hamas,Hizbbolah,PLO,islamic jihad, etc.who have been butchering each other for years, but when it comes to the destruction of Jews or Eretz Yisroel they all come together and unite.
