San Francisco, CA - A tiger escaped its confinement at the San Francisco Zoo, then attacked and killed a 17-year-old visitor. Two others were injured by the tiger, which entered a cafe inside the zoo.
The injured were taken to an area hospital. The escaped tiger was shot and killed.
The tiger was one of four kept in the same enclosure. The other three did not escape their enclosure, The zoo, was evacuated.
The victims were all non-employees, said police spokesman Sgt. Steve Mannina.
Officials at first worried that four tigers had escaped, but only one escaped its pen.
Last December, the same 300-pound Siberian tiger mauled a zookeeper during a regular public feeding. [cbs]

it is terrifying indeed. now they are checking to see if the guys taunted the animal by sticking their legs through the fencing. seems that a shoe was found on the animals side of the fence.

Duh... Boy afh47 it's a good thing you posted your comment. Otherwise, we would have thought that we should let out all the animals and let them roam around. Thank the one above that we have great thinkers on this blog who can snap out such sage thinking.

Very sad and disturbing story....there must be a full review of the lock-up procedures in place so that this can never and will never happen again!
