Yonkers, NY – Despite the fact that his mission statement is to make people be “b’simcha,” Yonkers kosher BBQ master and caterer Ari White has managed to raise the ire of local rabbis and kosher certifiers alike, by naming his award-winning smoker: Hakadosh BBQ—a name some claim “trivializes Hashem’s name.”, by playing on ‘Hakadosh Baruch Hu’.

The JEWISH WEEK (http://bit.ly/14Ozf4m) reports that White first became aware that the name of his smoker was offending people after rabbis from his kosher certifier, Star K, out of Baltimore, met earlier this month and informed him that they thought a name change was in order, but White really got the message during last week’s Long Island Kosher BBQ Championship when a judge admitted to giving his team lower grades because he, too, found the name “irreverent”—possible costing his team the title in the process.
White said he now accepts the criticism and will be changing the name, but will use “Kadosh BBQ” as a temporary replacement while deciding on a new name.
That judge should be disqualified. How unprofessional!
I think a naming contest is in order.
I agree he did wrong. But if he serves up a side order of noodles he should call it “lookshen hakodesh”.
Make some Mexican food and call it
‘ir tzion tamales’
NOT cool!
mikdash meat BBQ palace.
The Judge admitted he cheated, therefore the results should be nullified!!!!
Hashem is the true judge.
It takes more than a long beard and black hat.
If he is down to Kadosh BBQ, why not just go with “Holy Smoke!”
If I did not like his tongue sandwich, I would not tell you … that would be lashon hara.
