United Nations – The U.N. General Assembly has designated November 19 as World Toilet Day to spotlight the plight of 2.5 billion people who don’t have basic toilets.

According to the U.N., six billion of the world’s seven billion people have mobile phones — but only 4.5 billion have access to toilets or latrines.
The General Assembly resolution approved by consensus Wednesday urges the U.N.’s 193 member states to promote behavioral changes and adopt policies to increase access to sanitation and end open defecation, a key cause of diarrhea.
U.N. Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson said the annual observance of World Toilet Day “will go a long way toward raising awareness about the need for all human beings to have access to sanitation.”
What a great idea. Maybe Yasser Arafat has a holiday.
With the U.N. every day is Toilet Day.

I guess UN has no other pressing issues, I read that these pp in india or who knows where choose to do what they doing openly that many of them do have indoor toilets but they use it as a closet to store wood etc. So mayb the UN shud focus on pp that want to be helped.

Wow! Simply wow, it’s amazing how ridiculous some people with money are. What on earth do they think this will help? People don’t have toilets, go build them one, don’t make a toilet day! That’s just ridiculously insane!
Well right here in manhattan where the un is located there are no public toilets. Fifth aves parade route has no public toilets. Stores that do have toilets are limited to customers. And at least the two bilion people who have no toilets can do it in public where they won’t get a summons from their local government.
As usual, the UN wants the world to go down the toilet.
